Whoa! This site's totally dissing Avril!

Hey guys, take a gander at this: http://www.recroommagazine.com/articles/avril.htm It's awful! E-mail this girl telling her how much we love Avril, and spread the word about it! This has got to stop!! I'm more of an Avril fan now than I've ever been, and you guys probably will be too.

Sorry for not introducing myself...I know this is my first post. My other two favorite singers are Michelle Branch and Alanis Morissette, so that explains my sn.

So guys...help spread the word and give this chick a reality check!!

It starts out by pointing out that it's not an Anti-Avril site, that it's a magazine and inside that magazine this was an article.

I think that's pretty clear, it's not an Anti-Avril site it's the opinions of one person, backed up by solid facts. Read the article, I have.

Well the person who made that site has no life what so ever to make a hate site come on now. That is just so gay. Avril sings really good and she never said that she was "PUNK" she said it on TRL come on now. She writes how she thinks and its her what she likes who cares man. The girl is 17 and she sings good who gives a fuck if its not punk. Lots of people luv her and she must be dam good cuz she just came out and she won award. :lol:

It's not an Anti-Avril site, it's a magazine!</span> This person isn't a fan of Avril, obviously, although the writer does admit to getting "Complicated" stuck in their head occasionally.

Maybe the article isn't written in a completely professional manner, but everything the writer mentions can be backed up. I can not find any false info in that article. It's simply stating a fact, Avril and alot of her fans [of course not all of them, myself included.] call her a punk rocker, to cash in on a recent trend. That's not saying she's not a talented singer. Her voice is among the best I believe I've ever heard. But I don't think anyone can listen to her lyrics and say, "Woah, that's deep... that really gets to me." One look at the lyrics to a song like Sk8er Boi or Nobody's Fool and I'm laughing.

And I know, there's always the argument that "Well she's only 17" but keep in mind, if you're in the music industry, no matter your age or level of experience, you are going to be judged, exactly the same. Many people younger than or of the same age as Avril have written incredible lyrics. Austrailian band Silverchair is one such band, when they showed up they were all of ages younger than Avril, and provided some great music with great lyrics.

In my opinion, keep in mind it's only an opinion, Avril is most definitely a poser cashing in on a trend, that doesn't make her any less talented. But she's not punk, she's not rock, she's a beautiful pop singer with an amazing voice, but that's all she is. Anyone, including herself that tries to promote something more than that is lying to themselves and everyone else. Music isn't in what you wear, it's about the music that you create, Avril makes pop, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, in of itself.

Again, I never said Avril wasn't a talented singer. I believe in my prior postings I referred to her voice as one of the best that I've ever heard, someone with a voice like her's is, pardon the pun, anything but ordinary. The article itself, the root of this message board thread, was commenting simply on how she acted, and the things she stated, many of them were lies. That should have been the end of the topic, but soon it evolved into talk of who was and who was not a little man, and whether or not Kurt Donald Cobain, may he rest in peace, was great or not.

My intentions on these message boards were not to "convert" people into Avril-haters, or preach the word of Kurt Cobain, it was to have intelligent conversation. I didn't come here, hoping that my first posts, would be to proclaim me as the anti-christ. It's a shame when potentially intelligent conversation evolves into someone saying "Go out and follow in Kurt's footsteps." apparently trying to tell me "Go out and kill yourself, NOW!". [Which in my opinion is not what Kurt did, but let's not turn this into entertaining conspiracy theories.] I at one time wondered why people insulted fans of Avril, calling them mindless hypocrites who "don't care" what style she is, and the next minute are claiming she's "like totally punk rock!" as that's certainly not what I did, but it seems almost everyone else does. From the posts I've read, some appear to be notable exceptions to the rule, but most appear to be simply hopping on the bandwagon of a very talented singer, ignoring the faults that are in front of you, and eating up all you are fed.

To those of you who are intelligent fans, capable of understanding thought that is possibly against what you believe yourself, thank you. To the others, I shall simply end this message saying nothing at all, for I have no adequate response to some of the things that have been said, and I refuse to lower myself to a lever where all I do is unleash verbal attacks upon those who I don't agree with. For in this world are many forms of opinion, and a man can only believe in one, but there's no need to hope the others just fade away.

what is with these people!? honestly, shes original at least, and she writes her own stuff so why would anyone want to diss her... but with fame always comes imfamy i guess... but why try to make everyone like you anyway!? (actually people diss famous artists all the time, regardless of talent, ability or originality, and there are always people who dont like you)
