umm my computer screen is ahh can’t really explain it .. it’s kinda like as your about to turn it off it gives a blink. Anyways im just typing along and then it starts to blink a bit and im not touching the screen at all. Is it a sign of over heating ?? since my computer is known for doing that since my fan is not really a great one as my uncle says.

umm 3 or more then it sat a couple of months un unused for awhile then i had it for about 5 months now ( .. it used to be my sis's computer)

degaussing the monitor is pressing a little button that shakes the screen around to prevent things from getting burnt into it. I was wondering if her monitor did it on its own.

Are you using OSX? Cuz if so like... it does that if you do something wrong lol :P Like say you start to type but you forgot to click on where you want to type... so like it cant type anywhere. so it does that. ... I have no idea if i explained that well or not but yeah hope that helps :P
