OMG!! I can't wait till this movie comes out. It looks awesome. I wasn't born when this happened, but it still brings tears to my eyes. And yeah, we all know the ending. Well, hopefully we all do. ;) I saw the preview and I must say Kurt Russell is a perfect Herb Brooks. I'm only sad the Herb isn't here to see himself portrayed so well. RIP HERB!! My local semi-pro hockey team is taking over a theatre downtown and signing autographs and giving out prizes and free tickets to their game the next nignt. It's gonna be fun. Everybody go see this movie when it comes out!! It looks to be great!

That's becuase she's from Canada. No one understands hockey there.
That movie might be good if it wasn't Disney. But since it is, I refuse to see it.
quit that

I'm going to say all sports movies can be boiled down to one thing.
Crap.

I thought this was a review forum? Shouldn't this thread contain at least one person who's seen it?

dear god, i hope you were kidding. :)
has anybody seen it yet. it came out today. but they did have advanced showings over the past week. and so what if it's disney. all the reviews i've read said it has been really good.
lmao. Ok, there's this whole thing about US winning in the 80's on home turf, and then Canadians cream them the next time they're on US land.
So now they are making a movie about it?
I think Canada should make a ripoff, and call it "Fact"
But I dont know. I just dont like the premise. I might see it though....

What are you retarded? The US winning was considered a miracle because we've always blown, incredibly hard at hockey and weren't expected to do anything at all. It had nothing to do with being at home or being away.

and we beat the soviets for crying out loud!!! i mean jesus, who cares if it was at home, we coulda been in the bermuda triangle and if we beat the soviets that woulda ruled!! :)
we won't get into the last olympic games. both my hockey coaches are canadian and i'm still hearing shit over that. :) right after canada won we had practice and one of my coaches shows up with his canada jersey and a smirk the size of canada.

That's what I did too.
And after Spt. 11, on "American Pride" day at school, I wore my Canadian hockey jersey.

I've seen enough movies like that, so yeah no point in seeing it, though i'm sure it's a good movie
I'd rather watch Slapshot, with the lady with the ski jump boobs! hahahaaaa and to think it was my GRANDMA who bought that for us..
I'm interested to see how well this movie does up here, considering it's about team USA winning big.

i just think it's funny that this movie exists at all. first of all i heard it was really crappy. but more importantly, the fact that the US needs to hang on to something that happened almost a quarter of a century ago because, well, they've got nothin' now.

Eh... They did it because the stupid coach died. Anyway, what right do you have to say anything about national accomplishments? You're from Canada!

She says America has nothing to be proud about now. I say, she has no right to say that, because when has Canada ever done anything, whether it was prideful or not?

1) i was kidding.
2) hockey: double gold at the last olympics.
3) not hockey: only country ever to beat the US in a war (war of 1812)
4) country with the largest french-speaking population that never surrendered to anyone ever. :P

and we burned down the white house.

don't call herb brooks stupid!!! he was a great man. i'm not a patriotic person, but when it comes to hockey i am. but i'm glad canada won the olympics a few years ago. that loonie they stuck under the ice was cool too. in the last game of the high school playoffs last year, one of my coaches gave us all a loonie. i still have it somewhere. imo, the us women's team deserved to lose. they didn't play so hot. however, if the refs had not been whistle-happy, i think it might've been a completely different game.

I thought Canada would lose that game because of the refs. I was an emotionall wreck while watching that game--it was pathetic.

i was so mad at the us goalie when she let in that crappy as hell goal with, what was it, like 2 seconds left in the 2nd. I COULDA STOPPED THAT ONE!! *yes, i'm a goalie if ur wondering*
Death in a Bottle
02-10-2004, 05:52 PM
Well, if you were truly were a goalie (As I am on occasion), then you wouldn't trash other goalies, because all goalies know that it's always the rest of the team's fault.
Evan Rocks
02-13-2004, 03:58 PM
umm..sorry, but no. it's not always the team's fault. if there is a player on the other team coming down the wing and nobody is blocking you view and you have a d or 2 back and the winger shoots and it goes in, it's the goalie's fault. and the goal in the women's game was the team and the goalie's fault. the team for letting the canadian player get in so far and the goalie's fault for not stopping it.
Death in a Bottle
02-13-2004, 04:51 PM
On any given goal, the team should have stopped the puck from even getting shot, and the goalie should have stopped it when they did get a shot. My point being that every goal is the entire team's fault. But the goalie is asked to do more than any other player on the team, and their mistakes count for more, because there's no one to back them up. For that reason, I think it's never fair to blame a goalie in any way.
You know what was a nice goal? In the gold medal game, and Lemieux let the puck through his legs, and the other guy shot and scored. That was an awesome play.
Evan Rocks
02-15-2004, 03:17 PM
^ oh yeah. that was sweet. and you can blame the goalie in a way. but you can put the most blame on the team.
