Chapter One: A Step Further


"Av? Av! Avril!" Evan pleaded, trying to get the young woman to look at him.

"Evan please...not right now." Her trembling voice held him in place, and despite the fact his mind was telling him to chase her, her soft demand stopped him in his tracks.

She continued down the long hall of the hotel, blinking furiously at the tears stinging her azure eyes. She kept her head down, so no one could see as she shed her tears. The last thing she wanted was for a fan to come running up to her while she was having an emotional break down. Avril quickly slipped the hotel card she'd been clutching in her hand into the slot on the door, and pushed her way into the room. She'd barely shut the door behind her, before she was collapsing onto the floor, pulling her knees to her chest in a fetal position. She didn't think she could cry anymore, but Avril found that despite her small frame, she bottled a lot inside.

A soft knock erupted from behind the mahogany door, and Avril immediately knew who it was. She didn't rise to answer it, she just attempted to stifle her cries and wait until he went away.

But he wouldn't.

He was her best friend and he took it upon himself to make sure she was happy. She was extremely surprised when he'd stopped chasing her in the hallway, but not so much that he was now outside her door, begging her to let him in.

"Evan, I need to be alone." She mumbled softly.

"You always want to be alone. I don't understand what happened to us Av, we used to be so close."

The blatant truth in his usage of past tense stung her. "We still are."

She heard him sigh, and could picture him leaning against the door in defeat. "Whenever you need me, I'm right next door."

It wasn't until the sound of his door opening and shutting echoed into her room that she pulled herself off the floor and onto her bed to think about what he'd said. It was true, they used to be the best of friends, until one person came between them.

Evan and Jesse had never really gotten along. Evan knew that Jesse had always been more of a flirtatious type on Avril, and though she was flattered, she'd never been too interested in it. She wanted her bandmates as friends, as brothers, and it was a well-known fact that Evan was the closest to her. The rumors continued to swell about her and Evan, and one night they'd sat down and talked about it, dancing around what everyone was saying. Avril admitted beginning to have different feelings toward the man who was supposed to be her best friend, and Evan agreed, but both had reasoned that it was better to stay friends until confusions were cleared up and both were sure they wanted to commit in a romantic relationship.

Avril wasn't sure exactly how it happened, but somehow one night after a show, she and Jesse had kissed. Things had taken off from there, and Avril knew exactly why she'd chosen to act on Jesse's feelings. It was because he wasn't nearly as close to her as Evan, and it scared her thinking that she and Evan might ruin something so special. Losing Jesse would hurt, but losing Evan would kill her.

Evan drifted from her slowly but surely, not by his choice, but by Avril's own actions. She began to realize a month after she and Jesse had kissed, that they were a mistake. Her rhythm guitarist wasn't anything he'd charmed her into believing, he wasn't there for her when she needed him like Evan was, he wasn't kind to her like Evan was, and when the list of comparisons to Evan grew, she was sure she had to end it, but she couldn't.

In a normal situation, it would be Evan that she would go to for guidance, but not now. She shut him out thinking maybe if she wasn't around him, things between her and Jesse would get better, but they didn't. When Evan tried to get her to talk to him, she shrugged him off, afraid of hurting him, and firmly believing that he wouldn't understand.

She'd penned the lyrics to many of her songs on the whole situation for therapy, as she'd done many times before. Many were based on wanting out of a bad relationship and wanting someone there. As much as she wanted it to come true, it wasn't going to happen though, unless she ended it with Jesse, and showed Evan that she wanted to take the relationship to the next level.

Evan groaned, kicking his suitcase across the floor. Why'd she have to be like that? Why did she shut herself away? Yeah, he was a little jealous that he wasn't with her, but he didn't want anything to change. If all they could be were friends, then he'd be satisfied with that. What angered him was the fact that he knew Jesse didn't love her, she was simply a quick fling for him, and Evan knew if he pulled anything on Avril, she herself would send him to the hospital, or he would one.

He stopped his tantrum when he heard the soft sounds of a guitar playing an angry riff he'd never heard before. Sitting crosslegged by the shared wall of his and Avril's room, Evan pressed his ear against the decorative wallpaper to listen to the foreign music playing.

The song then faded into an angry mass of unorganized chords and Evan broke into a grin. It was something she did out of frustration when she was writing her songs and she didn't have anything else down. He remembered it fondly when they'd first started "Don't Tell Me." Evan was pulled out if his reverie as Avril's door opened and he heard footsteps pad to his door followed by the nonchalant knocking. He stood up, and walked to the door. No sooner had he opened it was Avril crashing into his arms. Evan pushed the door shut, and hugged her tighter as she sobbed into his chest.

"I don't know what to do Ev, I can't stay with him, but I don't want be alone." She finally sputtered.

"I can't make your decisions about Jesse for you..."

"Why not? Life would be so much easier that way." She answered him.

"Don't you think I'd be a little biased though?"

Avril let a quiet laugh be muffled into his shoulder. "How is that?"

Evan's heart stopped for a second, as he wagered how to word his reply. "Because if I had a say in this, I'd be the one you were with right now, and you wouldn't be so...broken." Avril grew quiet as his whispered reply registered in her mind. "And you wouldn't be in there writing such angst ridden lyrics about boys."

"You heard that?"

"I did, but you didn't get too far. That's not important right now. What's important is that you're okay." Evan said, tilting her chin up at his face. "And, I'll support whatever you decide to do. Just know that if you end it with him, you won't ever be alone okay?"

She had the urge to kiss him, to let him know that she would be alright if she was with him. Avril found her lips drawing closer to Evan's, but she met his index finger instead.

"Not tonight, don't let him get the satisfaction of claiming you cheated on him."

"He's done it to me!" She argued.

"And you're a better person than him. Now come on, let's get to sleep and we'll write more on that song tomorrow okay?" Evan offered, getting ready to lift her up and carry her over to his bed.

"No," She protested, "I don't want to sleep."

"Well then what do you wanna do?"

"How about we go for a walk or something?" She suggested.

"Sounds good." Evan said, grabbing his jacket from the disheveled bed and pulling it onto his lean body.

Soon enough, the guitarist and singer were out on the streets, without a clue where they were going. All Avril knew was that she needed to get away from it all, and the only way to do that was to be somewhere alone with Evan. She shivered slightly as a light breeze blew down the sidewalk, but she shivered worse when Evan's skilled hands were rubbing her bare arms up and down, friction among other things began to heat her skin.

"You really should check the weather before you just walk out in those tank tops, Av." Evan joked, placing his black jacket around her small frame.

Such a gentleman, she thought before retorting. "Uh huh, and who was it that jumped in that lake in just boxers in the middle of January?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." Evan replied, his arm slipping around her shoulder. "I do know we need to talk about you though."

"What about me?"

"I know you Av, you're unpredictable, but I can read you and I know you can read me. Earlier at the hotel, when you said we hadn't grown apart...we have. I don't care if you stay with Jesse, there's nothing I can do about that, but that doesn't mean we still can't be best friends."

Avril sighed. "What if I want to be more than best friends?"

Evan flashed her a smile. "Then we'll be more than best friends, I think we're both more than ready to commit now, but it's up to you."

"Will you wait for me?" Avril asked him. "I need to think on how I'm gonna do this and keep the band together because I can barely stand to look at him now."

"I've been waiting since we met, I think I can go a little longer." He answered her.

Soon enough, they were back at the hotel and in Evan's room.

"Don't think about Jess tonight okay?"

Avril nodded and once Evan was next to her she nestled her face into his neck. Evan shivered as her breath hit his warm skin, and he placed a quick peck on her forehead.

"I love you." She whispered.

"I love you too." He answered quietly as they fell into a comfortable sleep together.

"Charlie, I wouldn't wake them." Matt said as Charlie headed for Evan's door.

"Avril?" Charlie guessed, figuring who was in Evan's room.

"Those two don't see it do they?"

Matt chuckled. "They do, but Avril also sees Jesse."

"And we see Av doesn't love Jesse." Charlie retorted as he followed Matt to the elevator for breakfast.

"She sees it too, she just doesn't know what to do." Matt reasoned, pressing the button labeled LOBBY. "I don't think she wants any trouble within the band."

"Does Av know about that girl Jesse was with last week at the bar?" Charlie questioned.

"Yeah, she found out, Jesse apologized, Avril's being a b*tch to him, which he deserves." Matt explained, grabbing a bagel.

"I think she's being too nice." Charlie said as they sat down at one of the tables.

"One good thing coming of it, is that she's writing like crazy. She's matured a lot, I just wish is wasn't over a sour relationship."

Charlie nodded. "I have a feeling the relationship won't last too much longer. Avril's too strong and too smart to deal with shit like that from - "

"Talking about me eh?" Avril's voice suddenly floated from behind the two men.

"Good things only." Matt answered quickly, flashing her a wide smile.

"Hey, what else is there to say about Av but good things?" Evan added, winking at the now blushing singer.

"Shut up you guys."

Charlie raised his hands and then comically pretended to zip his lips.

"Anyway, you sleep well last night?" Matt hinted.

Evan shook his head. It wasn't like they hadn't shared a bed together before. In fact, quite often would Avril knock on his door in the middle of the night when they were in a hotel and sleep next to him. Sharing a bed was even more common on tour when all she had to do was climb into his bunk.

"I did thank you very much." Avril smirked as she knew the two were definitely pro Avril and Evan.

"Hey babe." The deep voice filtered into the room, interrupting the moment.

Avril felt his arms slide around her, and she couldn't suppress the look of disgust on her face that caused Charlie and Matt to chuckle. "Hey Jess."

"Where were you last night? I knocked on your door, but you didn't answer." Jesse questioned.

"I haven't been sleeping well that last few nights, I guess I was out cold." Avril said, slipping out of his backwards hug.

"Oh, well did you sleep well last night?"

Avril's serene eyes twinkled as she shot a look to Evan causing him to grin. "Yes, very well."

"Well, you know next time you can't sleep, you can always come to my room." Jesse stated.

"If you don't have another chick in there right?" Avril mumbled, tugging at Evan's hand. "Come on, I think I've got some ideas for that song." And with that, the duo was up the stairs, leaving Jesse in a huff.

So it's my first fiction up here, but I've been reading for a while and decided to do one myself. I love Jesse to death, but I kinda hafta bash him for this to work out. Tell me what you think!

Ok, well the second chapter is about 1/4 of the way done. I thought I'd be able to get it up tonight, but I'm not gonna be able to. We've got standardized tests going on at school so I'll probably have the next chapter up tomorrow afternoon since writing relieves my stress. Chapter Two: Count On It

"Why does she do that?" Jesse spat the question angrily to no one in particular.

Matt chose to answer. "Um...don't you think it'd be weird if she was getting ready to do her next album, but didn't write any?"

"I meant run off with Evan like that. I'm her boyfriend, not him."

"He's also her best friend, and you know they work well together on songs." Charlie pointed out, deciding to get into the game of "Piss Jesse Off."

"I play guitar too, and I write."

"I don't know Jess, maybe if you weren't so caught up in that girl last weekend, you'd be writing with her."

Jesse glared at Matt. "You know very well that I was drunk."

"Seems you get drunk a lot." Charlie declared.

"I think you're just jealous that I'm with her and you're not. You guys have been so unsupportive of me and her - "

"We've been unsupportive? We don't control her love life Jesse, and neither do you. Avril's got more than one best friend buddy, and whatever she decides, we'll stick with her on, but don't interfere with the songwriting partnership...or their friendship." Matt retorted, brushing past the shorter guitarist.

Charlie followed suit, trashing his plastic plate, and giving one last glance to his seething fellow bandmate, before shooting him a sarcastic grin and turning the corner.

Evan watched in amazement as Avril belted out the new verse she'd added as he strummed his guitar powerfully, trying his best to pour as much anger and emotion into the music as Avril had into the lyrics. He knew what the song was about, and he could read the pain her eyes as she watched him play along with her. He noticed she was reaching the end of the chorus and he decided to jump in.

Their voices melded together perfectly and her clouded eyes lit up as she heard this, causing the charming smile to spread across his face. It happened every time she was happy - he felt this burst of joy course into his veins and he would stay in a good mood until she was upset again.

He saw her hand raised, signaling him to stop. He let the pick draw across the string one last time, and abruptly cut the fading sound. "What is it?"

Avril pulled her knees up to her chest giving him a pleading look. "I don't really want to be in the room anymore...we've done the song a lot now and - "

"You're in one of those moods where you want me to be your slave huh? I know you too well Avril Ramona Lavigne." Evan smiled slyly.

She scowled at the usage of her middle name. "I'm always in one of those moods Evan David Taubenfeld."

"That's true, but I do know you too well." He answered, as she grabbed his shoulders and lifted herself onto his back.

"And is that a bad thing?" She murmured, her lips by his ear.

He felt the goosbumps rise. "No, I don't think it is."

"Do you think you know me better than Jesse?"

He turned them to face the mirror, and he stared at their reflection. "Have you done anything with him?" Evan's voice was barely above a whisper.

"What if I told you I'm saving myself for you?" She replied blatantly.

He licked his lips. "I would say only when you're ready."

"You never answered my first question." Avril answered.

"Yes, I do think I know you better than Jess. I think I know you better than anyone." Evan headed toward the door. "And I think you know me better than anyone."

"I agree." She said to the back of his blonde locks.

Once Evan got the task of opening the hotel door with his knee out of the way, and Avril pulled it shut, they headed down the hallway.

"Which way?" He asked as they came to a fork in the decorative hall.

"Um...left." She answered laughing as he began running as fast as he could down the hall.

Soon the duo found themselves in the lobby, and Evan had to slow down due to the many guests and personnel crowding the area.

"Oh my God! That's Avril and Evan!" The undeniable voice of a teenage girl was heard, followed by the chorus of her friends.

"Run!" Avril yelled, kicking him playfully in the thigh as she would a horse.

Evan dodged an elderly man pushing a room service cart and high tailed it to an abandoned elevator. The doors began to close and Evan could hear the sounds of the stampede chasing him and Avril. They reached the elevator and he tried to catch the doors with his foot, but it was useless, the elevator was already heading to its destination.

"Shit." He and Avril muttered in unison and Avril climbed off his back to calm the girls down.

"I guess you caught us." Evan joked as he hugged a crying girl.

She nodded, wiping the streaming mascara from her face.

"Yeah Ev, what happened? I told you those pixie sticks were gonna slow you down." Avril winked at him as she handed over a signed poster.

"Maybe it was the extra weight on me." Evan retorted playfully, as Avril pushed him.

"Hey, can we get a picture of just you two?" One girl asked, raising a Kodak camera.

Avril and Evan nodded. Avril grinned as Evan's arm fell around her shoulder and she leaned her head against him, it just felt so right to be with him.

"Thank you guys so much." The girls rambled after giving their idols a goodbye hug.

"No problem. Are you guys coming to the show tonight?" Avril asked.

"Of course! We wouldn't miss it!"

"We'll see you there then okay?" Evan said as he and Avril waved. When the teenagers had left, he turned to Avril. "So where to next?"

"I don't know, but you're still my slave." She answered, climbing onto his back again.

Evan shook his head and turned the corner, slamming straight into a very angry Jesse Colburn. He backed up, feeling Avril's hands clutch his shoulders tightly, sensing she was tense.

"Hey Av," Jesse said with forced sincereness. He then looked at Evan with a menacing stare, "Evan."

"Hey Jesse." Avril replied meekly.

"You want to go out to lunch?"

"I can't, we've got a radio show in like an hour and me and Ev have to be there a half hour before, you know that." Avril answered. "After the show, we need to talk though okay?"

"Well why don't I come with you to the station. I can take Evan's place - I'm sure you need a break right?"

Evan glared and was going to reply, when Avril's voice spoke for him. "The DJ's have been announcing all week that Evan and me are gonna be there. They might be a little pissed if they had a crowd of Evan's fans on their hands, and no Evan."

"Okay." Jesse nodded and kissed Avril, who stood there blankly as he said, "I love you."

Avril made a noise of acknowledgement and followed Evan into the awaiting elevator. When the doors closed, she felt the tears springing to her eyes. Don't cry, you can't cry. Not right before a show like this. She told herself.

"What's wrong?" Evan asked, concerned.

"I hate how he fakes it. He wants to go to that damn show because he wants publicity. You know he tried to get me to go public with out relationship? Thank God I got L.A. to tell him there'd be serious consequences if he did." Avril muttered in disgust. "I just don't want everyone knowing about my love life, I wanted to make sure everything was going to work out before I told the fans, and that was only two weeks into our relationship - if you could even call it that." Avril watched as Evan nodded.

"When you talk to him tonight...are you ending it?"

"Yes, I can't take it anymore. I mean I've tried and...it's just not going to work." Avril then clutched Evan's hand. "Besides, I'll be with you, and I'll be able to get that kiss I've been waiting for over two years for now right?"

Evan smiled, his oceanic eyes lighting up as he touched his nose to hers. "Count on it."

Chapter Three: Everyone Sees It

I've never felt like this before
I'm naked around you

And it feels so right...

It seemed like the set was a blur, one minute he was strumming to "Sk8er Boi" and then four songs later they were into "Naked." They didn't usually do "Naked," but Avril had told him to add it right before "Complicated." He figured by the looks she kept giving him, it was a basic read-between-the-lines method of telling him how she felt.

He was crazy about her, and always had been. There was a mutual feeling of regret the night they'd chosen to remain simply friends. Evan thought maybe if he had pushed it further, she'd never be in this situation dealing with Jesse and hurting so badly.

No, no, no...

Evan looked up, drawn back to reality by the eruption of cheers coming from the small crowd. He looked over at Avril, who was grinning, but rolling her eyes in frustration from doing the song that rocketed her to fame.

"Complicated sucks." He mouthed to her as she situated herself on the stool.

His guitar tech was suddenly at his side, taking the treasured acoustic from him as the DJ came out to ask the questions that sounded like a broken record to him.

"Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen. That was Avril Lavigne and her guitarist Evan Taubenfeld doing a quick acoustic set for us there. Are you guys ready tonight for the show?"

"We're always ready for the show. It's so great to have all these people come out and be able to play for them." Avril answered. "I love the fans."

"So, which do you like better, these small acoustic shows or the big arena shows?"

"Well, the acoustic shows are good because they're a lot more personal. I mean it's just me and my best friend Ev up here performing for you guys and you kinda get to interact with the crowd a bit more." Avril replied, shooting Evan a smile as she said 'best friend.'

"The big shows are really fun too. I mean there's so much adrenaline coming from you and the audience...it's crazy." Evan added.

"So, I know you love this question, is there any 'Sk8er Boi' in your life right now?"

Avril laughed nervously and shrugged. "Not right now, it's hard to really have a relationship I guess. I want somebody that can be there with me all the time, and that's really hard to get."

Evan saw a few girls in the audience wearing t-shirts that had 'AV AND EV' handwritten across the front. He winked at them, as Avril answered more of the same questions, shielding off anything too personal.

Everyone sees it. I guess I really was crazy to not push it that night. God, I feel so stupid. Evan argued with himself. Calm down, by tonight it'll all be over with. His more rational side took control.

"Well thanks for coming out, maybe we'll talk to you some more before the show tonight."

Avril and Evan acknowledged the DJ as they left to sign autographs for the fans who were running to the back of the studio to meet them as the radio station began starting contests to give away tickets to the show that night.

"Awwww look how cute Charlie." Matt said, pointing at Avril and Evan.

Avril's middle finger promptly was shoved in his face.

"Come Av, you gotta admit we're cute." Evan joked, shoving Matt away from the couch he and Avril were curled up on.

"So you're breaking up with Jess tonight right?" Charlie asked.

Avril nodded. "I told him I needed to talk to him after the show. I don't need to have that shit on my mind while we're out there."

"I don't blame you." Matt said. "You and Evan are gonna - "

"What do you think?" Avril arched an eyebrow.

"I think Av's in love!" Charlie proclaimed, hooking his arm with Matt's and skipping around in circles. After a minute of their dance, the bassist and drummer began singing. "Avril and Evan sittin' in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G! - "

Before the two could finish, Avril stuck her foot out, causing Matt and Charlie to fall on top of each other. "Looks like you two are the ones doing the K-I-S-S-I-N-G." Avril mocked. "And, I'll have you know, we haven't kissed yet."

Matt and Charlie grinned at Evan's blushing face.

"Is this true?" Charlie asked.

"I didn't want Jesse to be able to come back and degrade Av." Evan shrugged as Avril sat back down in his lap.

"Awww, what a gentlemen Ev is." Matt teased, pinching Evan's still crimson cheeks.

The door to the lounge busted open just as Evan was getting up to wrestle Matt. Jesse came in, and was immediately in Evan's place, his arm stretched across Avril. She grimaced, but grinned and bared it as Matt put Evan in a headlock.

"One minute they're ballroom dancing with each other, the next their wrestling. Can you say moodswings?" Charlie looked at Avril who began laughing like crazy.

"A little help here?" Evan asked as Matt lifted him up over his shoulder.

Avril took this as her opportunity to slip out of the uncomfortable situation. "You guys suck. Come on Matt!" She stood on the tips of her toes, coming even with his mouth.

Matt set Evan down by Charlie, placing his hands on either side of her face and pressing their foreheads together. He chuckled as she made a growling sound, and he matched the noise. She ended up tripping him onto the bean bag chair, and was about to sit back down, when Matt clutched her ankle, bringing her back down with him.

"Matt! Let me go!" She yelled as he began tickling her.

"Look at Jesse man - how jealous he looks." Charlie whispered.

Evan glanced up. Jesse's eyes were boring holes into the back of Matt's head. Evan smirked at Charlie mouthing, "Watch this" as he threw a ball at Jesse. Once the rhythm guitarist head turned to him, Evan said, "Something wrong, you look a little...frustrated?"

"Ah, you're not getting stage fright are you?" Charlie asked.

"No." Jesse mumbled through gritted teeth.

A tour manager knocked on the door, and entered, causing the band to look up. He looked strangely at Matt and Avril. "Um...Av?"

The young woman's head poked out from under the bean bag. "Yeah?"

"You've got the meet and greeters coming in about five minutes."

Matt smashed the bean bag back over her head as she replied. The tour manager looked at Matt for translation from the muffled answer. "She said she's ready as soon as she kicks my ass," Matt lifted the red bean bag chair up some, "that right?"

"Precisely."

The manager nodded, shaking his head at the other three boys and shut the door behind him.

"Matt you jackass get off me!" Avril yelled.

"What? Does that mean I won?"

"In your dreams, we're gonna finish this as soon as meet and greet is over. Now I gotta go redo my eye liner so move."

Matt laughed, standing up and stretching. "I'd say I won."

Avril kicked her foot out again, causing Matt to land flat on his rear as she took off into the bathroom and hopped up onto the counter to wash away the smeared make up. She smiled as Evan came in behind her. If it wasn't Matt or Charlie making her laugh with their antics, it was Evan who made her feel good about herself and made her know everything was okay.

"Ev, how about you help me with this?" Avril asked playfully.

He slid back toward the door, but she scowled, giving him the "Get Your Ass Back Here Before I Come After You Now" look that he knew all too well.

"Okay, so what do I do?" He asked as he sat crosslegged in front of her on the marble counter.

"I'm giving you the easy job of mascara, I already did the eyeliner, be happy."

"I just do this right?" Evan began to press the applicator to her eye lashes softly.

"You're a natural." She smiled as he furrowed his brows in concentration. "Just don't poke me in the eye or I'll have to kick your ass after I kick Matt's."

"Uh huh." He answered, his tongue sticking out from the corner of his mouth as he tried to complete his assigned task.

"Do you know how cute you are when you do that?" Avril brushed her fingers under his chin, unaware that Jesse was watching from the door.

Ha! I got it up tonight like I said I was gonna. So, as you can tell, things are gonna heat up in the next chapter. Thanks for the great things everyone said. I'll start writing once I get home from school tomorrow. Wait For Me

Chapter Four: Get Out

"MOTHER f*ckER!" Avril's voice resonated through the backstage area.

"MOTHER f*ckER!" Came the unison of replies from her band as their fists all connected, save for Jesse's whose hand enveloped Avril's.

Matt took off up the steel ramp as Evan pulled his guitar on, distorting the first few notes of "Sk8er Boi" as the fans roared. Matt began drumming as they all got in place. Soon enough, the curtains dropped and Avril and the band were on stage, hammering out the music as the crowd got progressively louder.

Avril had become pretty interactive with Jesse as of late, but Evan saw that she stayed closer to his side of the stage a lot of the time. During the musical break, she ran up to Evan, her fist pretending to punch him as Evan played along with the beat of the drum, leaning further and further back. He noticed as he came back up that the group of girls at the radio show who wore "Av And Ev" shirts were front row again, laughing and pointing.

A couple more hours, just a couple more hours. He told himself as he realized it was his back up and he began to sing.

Soon enough, "Too Much To Ask" came up. Evan loved rocking out, but he also enjoyed the slower songs because Avril could interact more personally with the band, specifically him. So as the ending of the song rolled around, he grinned as she stood in front of him and he mouthed the words with her. He noticed the small nudge of her head backwards, signaling it was Jesse she was singing about, and she turned back to the crowd.

He began to play the last notes of the song like clockwork as Avril turned back to face him.

It was too much that I asked him for...

He noticed the storm enter her normally wide and excited eyes she held during concerts and mouthed, "No it wasn't."

She gave him a reassuring smile as "I Don't Give" started up, but it faltered as Jesse came running toward them, splitting them up. Avril playfully pushed him sideways and went down the stairs to get the crowd even more hyped up. Evan looked up and again saw Jesse's menacing stare. Evan looked down at his guitar, pretending to change the tone and headed up the ramp by Matt, praying the concert to end soon.

~ * * ~

"I need to run like a mile or something!" Avril shouted from atop Evan's shoulders.

He chuckled and leaned down so that Avril wouldn't hit her head from her heightened position. "Now is it that you feel like you could run a mile, or that you could sit on my shoulders while I run a mile."

"The latter." She said simply.

"That was a good show tonight." Charlie said, suddenly appearing beside Evan.

"I don't think these two lovebirds remember anything but singing to each other." Matt remarked, pulling the plugs from his ear.

"Oh, let me down." Avril said quickly.

Evan obeyed, bending nearly in half as Avril shimmied down his back. "Where you going?"

She didn't reply, just continued running. Charlie, Matt, and Evan shared mutual confused looks as she disappeared around a corner. Suddenly, a skate board came rolling down the hallway at a very fast speed. The three just barely flattened against the wall as skate board, and Avril, went flying straight down the center.

"Damn, you moved!" She shouted.

"Oh, she was intentionally trying to hit us?" Charlie turned to the others with faux astonishment on his face.

"Avril? Hurt one of us?" Matt joined.

"Noooooo..." The three chorused as the singer stood up with innocence in her eyes. As if on cue, Matt, Charlie, and Evan charged at Avril.

Evan swung her over his shoulder, while Matt and Charlie made sure her flailing arms and legs didn't cause an injury. Once they were back in the dressing room, Evan dropped her on the leather couch. He made the mistake of turning for a second, and Avril pulled him down on the couch with her, causing them to be on top of each other.

The room grew silent as Evan brushed a lock of Avril's hair out of her face.

"I..."

"Sssh." Evan said as he got up. "Go talk to Jesse."

She nodded, and stood up, brushing passed Matt and Charlie.

"That takes a lot Ev." Charlie said, clapping him on the back.

"Yeah, it does." Matt answered, placing his arm around Evan's shoulder. "So, you guys wanna go watch Av break Jesse's heart?"

"With pleasure." Evan mumbled.

~ * * ~

Avril walked down the corridor leading to the band's dressing room. She figured Jesse would be in there, but he wasn't. Where the hell is he? When I want him around, he's never there. It shoulda been my first signal. She sighed, shoving through another door to the maze they called backstage, only to see Jesse with someone she assumed a fan considering the tour shirt she wore. She turned to leave, not really set on dealing with any fans until she'd already talked to Jesse. Out of the corner of her eye, Avril saw Jesse lean down, and kiss the girl.

Her blood began boiling, as she quietly shut the door behind her. Increasing her pace, she headed back toward her dressing room to find Evan and the others, knowing she could rely on them. Matt and Charlie would make her laugh, and then they would leave and let her talk to Evan, who would make her laugh and get over whatever was wrong.

She stopped to collect herself in a nearby bathroom, and wiped the tears of anger streaming down her face. As she was leaving the bathroom, Jesse turned from his position at the end of the hallway.

"Oh Av, I was just looking for you." He came to kiss her, but missed as she turned her cheek.

"Get the hell away from me!" She shoved him as hard as she could, sending him stumbling backwards.

"What the hell's your problem?"

"You weren't looking for me! You were just making out with that fan, I saw you Jess."

"Avril I - "

"No, I came to find you to end it anyway." Avril spat angrily.

"You're breaking up with me?" Jesse asked, venom in his tone.

"Oh come off it! You saw it coming! You didn't expect me to buy your "I was drunk" stories forever did you?!"

"Just calm down Av, we can talk through it if you'll give a me a minute to explain!" Jesse raised his voice.

"I'm through Jess, it's over." Avril turned to leave, when Jesse's hand clenched around her arm.

"Don't walk away from me." He said, teeth clenched.

"Let go of me!" Avril glared.

His grip was too tight though, and before she knew it, Avril was up against the wall, Jesse's fist raised and aimed at her face.

Yeah, it's short, I know. I couldn't really put anything else in there without adding stuff I want to do for the next chapter though so I left it shorter. The next chapter is gonna be intense if you couldn't already tell! I'll try to get it up tonight and thanks for all the good stuff!

Wait For Me

Chapter Five: A Step Too Far

"I don't wanna spy on them or anything...I've just got a bad feeling." Evan said as he, Matt, and Charlie scoped the hallways looking for the potential break up scene.

"Why don't we split up then? Me and Matt'll go this way, and you go over there." Charlie pointed.

"Yeah, if you guys find her, call my cell phone okay?" Evan asked, worry present in his tone.

Matt nodded, taking off down the hallway with Charlie right behind him, as Evan ran as fast he could through the halls.

Matt and Charlie came to the last door, leading into the hallways splitting the band and Avril's dressing rooms. Matt poked his head in, and the last thing Charlie saw was the drummer take off at full speed. Charlie's eyes widened as he saw why.

Matt reached the rhythm guitarist before his fist made contact with Avril's face, and he hooked his arm around Jesse's raised arm, pulling it back. Charlie saw that Evan had come in through the opposite door, and had a look of hatred on his face he'd never seen before.

Matt spun Jesse around and roared in his face, "What the f*ck are you doing?!"

Charlie came to Avril's side, hugging her tightly. "Av, it'll be okay just calm down."

Matt let go of Jesse as Evan came barreling down the hallway, slamming straight into his bandmate. The two fell to the ground, with Evan viciously punching him.

"Evan! Let him go Ev, please!" Avril shouted.

Evan rolled off of Jesse, and pulled him up against the wall. "You f*cking bastard! Don't you ever, EVER, go near her again or - "

"Or what? What the hell are you gonna do?" Jesse challenged, spitting blood from his mouth at Evan.

"Ev, duck." Avril's calm voice said.

Evan saw Jesse's eyes go wide, and he decided to follow Avril's instructions. Evan's head went level with Jesse's chest, and he heard the loud noise of fist meeting skin as Avril's arm shout outward, contacting with Jesse's cheek.

"Get out! I don't want you in my band, I don't want you anywhere near me!" Avril yelled, as tears began streaming down her cheeks.

"I don't understand why you're blaming me for this, you're cheating on me with Evan!" Jesse defended.

"Everyone here can vouch for how untrue that is." Charlie growled. "Now go, before Matt, Ev, and myself decide to help you out the door."

"You were a mistake Jesse, and to tell you the truth, I wish I had cheated on you with Evan, but I didn't put myself on that level...and he didn't force me to."

Jesse wiped the blood from his swollen lip, and he stormed down the hallway, slamming as many doors as he could. Once he had disappeared, Avril broke down into sobs. Evan was immediately wrapping his arms around her, whispering in her ear.

~ * * ~

"Did he hit you before we got there?" Evan grazed Avril's face with his fingers as she sat on the counter in the bathroom.

She shook her head as more tears fell from her face. "No, but if you guys hadn't shown up..."

"Hey, you could've taken him." Evan said.

Avril smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. Evan sighed, cursing Jesse for ever being in Avril's presence. "Are you gonna be okay?"

"In a little while." Avril replied quietly. "It's not that I'm upset about ending it with him, I just...I've never been in a situation like that before and if he'd of hit me..."

"Don't even think about that." Evan picked her up from the counter.

"I won't," She whispered into his ear, "as long as you're with me."

He grinned, "You want me to take you out there with Matt and Charlie, or do you want to go to your dressing room?"

"Can we just be alone?" She asked, sounding close to a child.

He nodded, and carried her out into the band's dressing room where Matt and Charlie sat. "We're gonna go to her dressing room okay?"

They nodded in understanding, making funny faces at Avril who cracked a smile and buried her head in Evan's shoulder.

~ * * ~

Avril flopped back on the couch, pulling Evan down with her once again. This time, there weren't any worries about who was cheating on who. It was just Avril and Evan, two best friends, ready to start something long overdue.

Evan rolled so he was facing her, and met her stare. "I should've been there before he even got a chance to try to hit you..."

Avril pressed her finger to his lips. "You were there before he did, that's all that matters." She pressed her nose to his. "I know I can always depend on you Ev."

"I love you." He murmured.

"I love you too."

Their lips drew closer together, and were meeting in the long awaited kiss that they'd prevented themselves from enjoying numerous times. It was perfect, everything Avril had always figured it would be. His arms were locked around her waist protectively, and her hands were running through his damp hair, twirling the blonde locks in her fingers as he shifted them so she was resting on his warm body.

"Why did we wait so long to do that?" Avril asked as she pulled back reluctantly from his lips for air.

"I don't know, but I wanna do it again." He answered as she leaned back down toward him, losing herself in Evan once again.

~ * * ~

Later that night, after they'd informed everyone of what had happened, the band decided to go back to the hotel for a well-deserved sleep. Avril was in her room, grabbing clothes, while Evan was getting out of the shower.

He pulled the towel around his waist, shivering as he stepped out of his bathroom in search of boxers. He found a clean pair, and pulled them on, tossing the towel to the side. As he was going to leave his room to check on Avril she came running in, panicked.

"What? What's wrong?" He asked.

"I think Jesse's back to get his stuff." Avril said quickly.

"Shit." Evan said opening up the door to the hallway. He saw the beat up man standing at Avril's door. "She's not in there."

"And where is she, with you?"

"What the hell are you doing here?"

"She didn't give me a chance to talk to her." Jesse began walking toward Evan.

Evan tensed as he felt Avril grab him and peer out. "She doesn't want to talk to you. I don't know who you think you are, but get out before we call the police."

"We? So she is in there then. Avril, come out, we need to talk!" Jesse yelled.

Matt and Charlie's heads poked out of their doors.

"Damn it, just when you think you can get a peaceful night." Matt muttered.

"Should we go get hotel security?" Charlie asked, looking to Evan.

"Why don't you ask him?" Evan replied angrily.

"I just came to get my stuff." Jesse said, raising a black duffel bag. "I'll be back tomorrow to work out what's gonna happen." He smirked and turned toward the door exiting the hotel.

Evan nodded to his bandmates, and turned back to Avril, shutting and locking the hotel door. "You've got everything you need right?"

"Everything I need is right here." She said, pushing him slightly. "Other than that, yeah."

"How about we sleep until noon tomorrow?" Evan suggested, climbing in the bed.

"When he comes to talk to L.A. tomorrow, will you come with me?"

Evan put his arms around her, and turned out the light. "Yeah, I will. I wouldn't let you go around him alone anyway after that."

Avril smiled, kissing his neck. "Good."

Ah okay, I don't hate Jesse - I just dislike him a little, and it works to make him the evil bastard in this story. Anyway, I'll have the next chapter up tomorrow sometime hopefully. Until then, I'm off to watch my recorded "Days Of Our Lives" again...

Chapter Six: L.A. Arrives

"Avril! Come on we're gonna go get some food!" Charlie yelled through the door.

"Would you just chill a second? Besides, Ev's not even ready yet!"

"Actually, I am." Evan replied from behind her.

"They don't know that." Avril pulled the black hoodie over her head, and grabbed Evan, kissing him.

"I'm so glad we can do that now." Evan whispered as Matt beat on the door.

"Damn you two! I'm gonna starve!"

"Matt, you're always gonna starve." Avril said, pulling open the door.

"This should tell you to hurry!" He exclaimed, shaking the shorter woman's shoulder.

After ducking out of the hotel from a mob of fans, the group ended up at a small restaraunt down the street. With Avril, Charlie, and Evan eating veggie burgers while Matt shoveled his burger and fries down.

"Did you even taste that?" Charlie asked, disgusted by Matt's eating habits.

"I did, it was very delicious." He said, mouth full.

"Sick." Avril and Evan commented in unison.

"So when's that bastard coming to work all the legal stuff out?" Charlie looked at Avril.

"I don't know. L.A. had to make sure he signs some contract where he can't make false statements about us, all that shit." Avril stared down at the table.

"I don't think he'll pull anything. Evan gave him a preview of what would happen last night." Matt set his soda down.

"Oh, that wasn't even a preview. If he even looks at her wrong again I'll - " Evan stopped his statement. "Let's just say counting to ten won't help me." Avril squeezed his knee, and he saw the faint traces of purple and blue on her arm as her sleeve pulled up some. He swallowed back the anger coarsing into him and touched the bruised skin lightly with his thumb.

"It's from where he grabbed me..." She mumbled.

"I don't care." He seethed. "He's not coming anywhere near you again."

"What?" Matt asked. Avril raised her arm causing them to raise eyebrows.

"He's not coming anywhere near you again." Charlie repeated.

"Awww my sweet bois!" Avril said to cut the tension, pulling them into a group hug. "What would I do without you?"

"Sing a cappella." Matt shrugged.

Charlie wacked him on the head. "Ouch, damn Matt. How much gel do you use to spike that up?"

"Not nearly as much as Evan uses to keep his in perfect condition."

Avril grabbed Evan by the hair, disheveling it into a mess. The look on his face was priceless. "Oh, was I not supposed to do that?"

Evan's hands shot up to his hair, as he tried to salvage his hair's original state. "You're so lucky you're my girlfriend or I would have to do some payback."

"But I'm your girlfriend, and you wouldn't dare try to pull any tricks on me, now would you?" Avril narrowed her eyes.

"Ah, you don't know me as well as you thought." Avril glared at him. "Okay, so you do. Can't I just keep the mysterious vibe for a minute though?" He added.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Next time I'll let you have two minutes."

"Thank you." Evan murmured, kissing Avril.

"Come on, I'm still eating here!" Charlie yelled.

"Ah, get used to it!" Avril retorted, going back to Evan.

"We've got the day off, what do you suggest we do?" Charlie asked as the band walked around town, happy they were going unnoticed.

"Oh, I don't know, sleep." Evan suggested.

"Sleep sounds good." Matt agreed.

"Yeah, you know once we get back on that bus we're not gonna sleep for a week." Charlie mumbled.

"Well, I don't know what we're gonna do now. We don't have a rhythm guitarist, and I don't even know if we've got any shows coming up or what's going on." Avril jumped into the conversation.

"Don't you love it when you don't know what the hell's gonna happen?" Evan asked, as Avril climbed onto his back.

"The life of rock stars huh?" Charlie turned down the street the hotel was on.

"Who says we take a well-needed nap - " Avril began to suggest when she saw L.A. Reid standing in the hotel's lobby. "Shit."

"Avril..." The record executive greeted the young singer as she climbed from Evan and he looked at the band. "Uh oh, what've you guys been up to?"

"Hey, we haven't been kicked outta here yet." Matt defended.

"Well that's surprising, I need to talk to you guys though so have you eaten lunch yet?"

"Yeah, we just got back." Evan said.

L.A.'s eyebrows arched above his sunglasses when he saw the guitarist and Avril holding hands. "So it is true."

"Uh...should we leave?" Charlie asked.

"No, no, no, this involves all of you."

~ * * ~

"So, what happened?" L.A. asked as he sat down in Avril's hotel room.

"Well, I'd been having thoughts for a while about ending it with Jesse, and last night, I tried to after the show. He completely flipped out and we argued and he pushed me up against the wall and..." Avril trailed off feeling the tears catching in her throat.

"We ran in and he had her pinned against the wall, and he was about to her. I grabbed him and Charlie got her away and then Evan ran in..." Matt trailed off looking over at Evan who picked up.

"To put it frankly, I was ready to beat the shit out of him, but Avril told me to stop and she knocked him pretty good. He left and came back later that night and we told him to get away and not to come back."

L.A. sighed. "Well, did he hurt you?"

Avril shook her head. "He only grabbed me," she pushed her sleeve up, "it left a bruise but I'll live."

"Well, I need to get a hold of Jesse so we can work things out. Obviously he's not coming back to the band whether he wants to - " L.A. was interrupted by Evan.

"Hell no! I don't want him anywhere near her!"

"Look Evan, we've got to settle this. You guys can be in the room with us if you'd like." L.A.'s words seemed to calm Evan a little bit. "Now, this leads me to our next discussion. Are you two dating?"

Avril nodded. "Yeah, since last night. We'd talked about it before, but we decided to remain friends and we both realized we needed more. No, I didn't cheat on Jesse. I would've considering what he'd put me through, but Evan wouldn't let anything happen until it was over."

"Yeah." Charlie and Matt nodded to give L.A. more assurance.

"In normal circumstances I'd highly disapprove of this, but the management team and I actually had a bet going on how long it would take for you two to get together. Evan, don't break her heart." L.A. stated.

"It won't happen sir." Evan sounded like he was talking to an overprotective father.

"I'll be back later on to discuss Jesse's replacement and everything else so stay close." L.A. left the room.

"You guys better be in there with me." Avril looked at the three men in front of her as she dreaded the anticipation of having to deal with Jesse again.

So, Jesse will reappear in the next chapter. Whether Evan beats the hell outta him again or not, I haven't decided. I guess we'll find out tomorrow...

Chapter Seven: Unforgettable Nights

Three o'clock rolled around, and Avril found herself growing increasingly nervous as she sat next to Evan on the couch. "I just wish he'd get here already damn it!"

Evan's eyes grew wide for a second as Avril slung a pillow across the room. "Why?"

"I just wanna get it over with." She mumbled, resting her head under his chest.

Evan placed a kiss on her head. "Just don't worry about it, Matt and Charlie and - "

"And you, I'm not going in there without you. I don't care if my body gaurds are in there and my - "

Evan shook her slightly to snap her out of her sputtering. "Hey! Hey! Hey! I'm going to be in there with you. I told you before I wouldn't let you go anywhere near him without me there."

"What do you think he'll do?"

Evan sighed, pulling her into his lap. "I really wouldn't be surprised if he claimed you cheated on him, but Matt and Charlie can back everything up, and considering they were there when I flipped on him and he had a hold of you, and L.A. seemed completely on your side."

"I just wish I'd never gotten involved with him Ev." Avril whispered, gazing down at the bruise.

Evan gently ran his fingers over the tinted area. "I hate myself for letting you push me away like that. I just backed off and didn't try to do anything."

"I shouldn't have pushed you away in the first place. I just thought when he was kissing me that there probably wasn't going to be a chance with you, and I was scared that we would break up or something and I couldn't risk losing someone I loved so much." Avril replied.

"You're never going to lose me Avril." Evan murmured.

"I know now, I just wasn't sure back then."

A knock interrupted the discussion.

"Who is it?" Evan called.

"Jesse's here." Matt answered through the door.

~ * * ~

"Okay, we're here to determine a number of things. Your severance pay for one, what will and won't be said to the media, and what's going to happen from here." L.A.'s strong business voice took over. "Now, first, I want to know Jesse's side of what happened."

Jesse leaned back in the chair he was in. "Okay, so after the show last night, Avril wanted to talk to me. We were walking and she told me she didn't think things were going to work out, but she wouldn't tell me why. She went to leave, and I just barely grabbed her arm and Matt ran in and grabbed me and then Evan tackled me. Then they threw me out and she told me basically I was fired."

"Bull shit!" Evan growled. He lifted Avril's arm, and pushed the wristband she wore further up her elbow to reveal the bruise. "Barely grabbed her?"

"And when I came running in, you had her pushed against the wall, and your fist was raised." Matt stood up.

"Where were you in the middle of this?" L.A. looked at the bassist.

"I was making sure Av wasn't hurt." Charlie answered.

"Wait a minute! I wouldn't hurt Av, I don't know where she got that bruise from. Look what Evan did to me," Jesse pointed at his scabbed lip and bruised cheekbone. "For all I know, Evan could've done that to Avril."

"Evan would never do that to me, you know good and damn well of that!" Avril now stood up, sending a look to Jesse that could kill.

"Ev didn't do that your lip either Jess, Avril did. Were you embarassed to say that?" Charlie asked.

"Look, Jesse we'll give you your paycheck and your guitar. None of this is to be spoken to the media about the fight, unless you want your reputation ruined Jesse?" L.A. arched his eyebrows at him.

"No sir."

"Good, when this comes out, Jesse you were wanting to do your own thing - "

"I'm going back to Closet Monster." Jesse cut in.

"Good." Came the unisoned reply of the band and L.A.

"You were wanting to go back to Closet Monster, and everyone is still friends okay? Now, we'll find a replacement for rhythm guitar soon enough, until then, I've got an idea to keep you occupied for the new C.D. Jesse, don't come around here again unless you're invited, you're lucky enough that Avril's not pressing charges." L.A. watched as Jesse stood up.

"I had some good times with you - "

"Don't Jesse, just don't." L.A. cut his fake sympathy short.

"Avril, when you get tired of him," He pointed at Evan, "you've got my number."

"Jesse, I've been with Evan two days officially and I'm loving it more than I ever did being with you. Hell, to tell you the truth I knew it was a mistake an hour after you kissed me." Avril said and pointed at the door. "Now get the hell out!"

Jesse pulled open the door, and gave one final look to the band he was once apart of. Avril wasn't looking at him, her face was buried in Evan's shoulder. Evan was glaring at him with hatred and Jesse chose to look at Matt and Charlie, who shared a look of disgust, but nothing as obvious as Evan's.

~ * * ~

Avril woke up to the soft sound of Evan breathing. She rolled over to face him, brushing the now longer hair from his face. Tracing the outline of his face with her fingers, she felt the growing stubble coming across his chin. He shifted when her finger tips grazed the nape of his neck, and she withdrew her touch, not wanting to wake him.

She pulled herself from the warmth of the bed she and Evan were sharing, and was going to stand, when his strong arms pulled her back down into the haven of sheets and pillows.

"And where do you think you're going?" His voice, laced with sleep, asked her.

"Well, I was gonna go to the bathroom..."

"Oh." Evan mumbled, letting go of his tight hold.

Once Avril had returned, she found Evan was sitting up in bed, eyes focused on when she was going to come out of the bathroom. She smiled, and jumped into the bed with him, falling right into his kiss. Soon enough, Avril found things getting more and more heated, but it was Evan who broke them apart.

"Wait, I can't do this unless you're ready." Evan said between ragged breaths. "We've only been together like two days."

"Ev, we've been together two years." Avril replied. "I want to do this with you."

Evan nodded, "Are you sure? There's no pressure whatsoever on you Av, you know that."

Avril grabbed the sides of Evan's face and grinned. "Don't kill the moment okay?"

He matched her grin and they fell back against the bed for an unforgettable night.

Ah. you knew it was coming soon. Anyway, next chapter'll be up tomorrow night. So until then, um....don't eat too much sugar. Ah no, ignore that, if I said that I'd be a hypocrite....

Wait For Me

Chapter Eight: Forever Lasts an Eternity

Avril's eyes slowly opened, the azure orbs focusing on her surroundings. The faint glow of sunlight was pouring across the floor of the hotel room, across the face of who she was laying on top of. A smile crept across her features as she remembered the events of last night. She and Evan had molded - perfected - their relationship. Her love for him had grown, if it was possible, not simply because they'd been together physically, but because of the way he'd been tender with her. Avril thought he wasn't going to finish what they'd started when she gasped in pain, and she had to force him to continue while he whispered he was sorry for hurting her.

She nuzzled her face into his neck, breathing in his scent as he exhaled in his sleep. She raised her head up to look at his face, wanting to catch the first glimpse of his oceanic eyes when opened them, and wanting to be the first thing he saw when he awakened.

Weary eyelids slid back, revealing the deep pools Avril continuously got lost in. At first they were glossy as his pupils began to adjust to the light, but they grew radiantly beautiful as Evan saw Avril's smiling face.

"Morning." He murmured as she kissed his jawline.

Her smile grew wider as her ears registered the deepness of his morning voice that drove her crazy. "Morning yourself." Her reply was followed by a soft humming noise coming from her throat as his soft lips worked down the nape of her neck.

This was how things were now. She figured she would be shy the morning after her first time, especially considering it was Evan, the one person she truly had ever been in love with in her nineteen years. She gazed down as Evan's fingers grazed her bruised wrist softly.

"Are you gonna fixate on that forever?" Avril whispered.

His scowl turned into a loving stare as he met her face. "I still can't believe he did that you Av."

"He'll never do it again, though, and if he tries, we'll kick his ass right?" Avril tried to joke, knowing Evan hated that he wasn't there to stop the bruise from ever happening.

Evan chuckled, "I don't know if I want you see that side of me again."

"Aw, why not? I think you're sexy when you're mad." Avril whispered into his ear.

"Well, if he tries to pull anything ever again, I'll be worse than before for two reasons. One, because I love you and would never let anything happen to you, and two, because you think I look sexy."

Avril laughed at him. "I love you too."

~ * * ~

Matt's eyebrows raised as he saw singer and guitarist come downstairs for breakfast, more touchy-feely than they usually were. "Somebody got a hell of a lot closer last night."

Charlie chuckled. "Be glad you don't share a wall with Evan's room."

Evan blushed a deep crimson. "Damn you two."

Avril giggled. "It's not like they didn't know it was going to happen," she looked from Evan to Charlie, "and shame on you for listening."

"I didn't intenionally listen Av, I think the people two floors up could hear you." Charlie said, causing Evan's blush to darken.

"Look at him blush!" Matt laughed.

"Don't listen to them Ev," Avril joked as he grinned. If she could be so light about it, then he could. After all, she was the one who lost her virginity last night, so if anyone should be shy, it should be her. She wasn't, though. Avril just wasn't like that - she was the epitome of her own quote, "If you don't like me for who I am, then you don't like for who I am, 'cause all you're gonna get is who I am."

"I'm not!" Evan defended. "Why would I take the jeering of these two?"

"Oh, he got you there Matt." Charlie chuckled.

"I think he was referring to both of us, dumbass." Matt shook his head at the bassist. "Anyway, so how was Evan?"

Avril coughed. "Excuse me?"

Evan rolled his eyes. "I don't think that's any of your business now is it?"

"Hey, it was worth a try." Charlie added.

Avril felt her cheeks get hot and knew they were turning crimson. She wasn't going to divuldge that much information to them, even if they were her brothers. "Evan's right," Avril replied, recovering her edge, "and besides, you heard it last night right? Do the math then."

Charlie and Matt put their hands up in defeat, cracking smiles.

"I love you, you know that?" Evan placed his arm around Avril's waist, smiling at her sarcasm.

"Yes I do." Avril kissed his cheek.

"I think we all know." Matt jumped in.

~ * * ~

The morning passed quickly as the band was ushered around town for a day they hoped would be free from stress. As they went from place to place, though, it was a miracle if they didn't find reporters or groups of fans following them - it was an even bigger miracle if the most popular question of the day didn't get asked - "Where's Jesse?"

Arista had released an official statement the day before that Jesse Colburn had returned to Closet Monster, and that everyone was still good friends. This aroused suspicion, but not nearly as much suspicion as the photos of Avril and Evan, who couldn't keep their hands off each other. Most fans loved the idea, proclaiming they knew it all along, but the press began to ask questions as to why Avril and Jesse were over, which no one answered. The band shrugged the question off, leaving reporters to come up with their own theories when Avril told them quite frankly it wasn't any of their business. It worked well, because the performer was known to not answer too many personal questions in interviews, and no one suspected the red, white, and blue wristband was to hide the answers.

"I swear if I see another reporter I'll scream." Avril declared, sinking into the leather seats of the van driving them to their destinations.

"Well don't go hoarse, here comes more." Matt replied, pointing at the now flashing cameras.

"Avril, is it true you and Jesse broke up because of Evan?" One asked.

"Did you cheat on Jesse with Evan?" The other repeated.

Avril looked to the band, giving them a nod. The windows to the back of the van rolled down, and the reporters grew quiet, thinking maybe either Avril, Evan, Matt, or Charlie was going to answer their questions. Four middle fingers met them instead.

~ * * ~

Evan fell back against the bed, Avril coming down on top of him. Lips were crushing against each other, heavy breathing pressing their bodies closer and closer, moans erupting from the couple in unison or apart. Mouths broke apart for much needed oxygen, and eyes finally met in loving looks.

"You're so beautiful," Evan murmured, brushing strands of her soft hair from her face.

"No I'm not, but I'll let you tell me that anyway." She whispered back to him.

His eyebrows furrowed. "Why don't you think you're beautiful Av?"

"I guess because no one's ever said it to me and meant it before, just like no one's ever told me they loved me and meant it before."

"Well, forget them, all of them. I love you, and I think you're the most beautiful person in the world, inside and out - and that's all that matters." Evan touched his nose to hers.

Avril felt tears spring to her eyes. "I love you too Ev, thanks for always being here for me."

"Hey, don't cry." His voice was barely a whisper. "You know I hate it when you cry, especially when I'm the one making you cry."

Avril laughed through her tears. "But I'm crying in a good way because of you, it's a happy cry. I don't deserve you."

"I don't deserve you, but you chose me and that's how it's gonna stay, forever." Evan stated.

"Forever?" Avril arched an eyebrow.

"Forever. An eternity. Infinity." Evan replied, kissing her each time he said a word. She smiled, one that reached her eyes and lit up the room, showing she was assured. She kissed him lovingly, and he returned the favor as again they were perfecting their relationship, proving they would last forever.

Sorry it took so long, but I spent nearly 12 hours working on that project yesterday and I was up til 3:30 AM so I was pretty exhausted, but I couldn't sleep so I got on here and caught up with the updates and began writing. The chapter would've been up sooner, but I had to take time to recover from Rush's incredible story, which I can't think about or I'll tear up...hope you like the chapter and thanks for reading!

Chapter Nine: Midnight Callers

Evan inhaled deeply, feeling the weight of his companion on his chest. He was trying to get his eyes open to look at her, and wondered why he'd awoken in the first place. Then he heard it, the shrill ringing of Avril's cell phone cut into the quiet atmosphere of the hotel room. As his hand went to reluctantly shake Avril awake, her head lifted up abruptly and her eyes darted around the room, narrowing on the ringing cell phone.

"Who the hell calls me in the middle of the night?" She grumbled, rolling off Evan and going to toward the nuisance laying atop her bag. "Hello?"

Evan blinked, watching as her face faltered, and a deep frown appeared on her face. "Who is it?" He didn't have to ask, though, to know the answer.

"What do you want?" Her tone was harsh, and Evan prayed she never had to use it on him. He watched as paused, kicking her bag to the side momentarily. "Jesse, don't call me ever again." She pressed a button her phone, ending the call, and threw it down.

Evan got up from the bed immediately as he saw Avril's form begin to shake as she turned toward the window. His strong arms eneveloped her, surrounding her in a shield of warmth. "What's wrong? What did he say to you?"

Avril shook her head, wiping the streaming tears from her face. "Nothing, don't worry about it."

"Like hell I'm not gonna worry about it! What did that bastard say to you?" Evan raised his voiced, showing his anger at the midnight caller.

"He threatened me okay? It's not big deal, he's probably drunk and trying to show off for Mark or someone."

"If it's not such a big deal, then why are you crying?" Evan asked gently. "Avril...did he ever hit you while you were together?"

"No!" She exclaimed.

"Did he ever try to or threaten to?" Evan proceeded. She didn't answer, just turned away from him. "Av..."

"He tried to a few times, and he threatened a lot, I just never took him seriously because it was usually after we'd all been out drinking." Avril whispered.

"That's not an excuse!" He titled her chin up so she had to look at him. "What did he say - how did he used to threaten you?"

Avril swallowed and attempted to steady her shaking voice. She had to tell him, she loved him and didn't want anything kept between them. "Jesse would...I guess you could say verbally abuse me. He told me I wasn't good enough, and that I'd never make it another year if I didn't do this or that. He didn't do it all the time though, just on occasions he'd get on this power trip, like he owned me or something. I hated it and I would yell back at him and Jesse would tell me that one of these days I was gonna cause him to hurt me or the people I loved. It was so hard to finally decide to break it off with him because I was scared he was gonna hurt me, or you, or just anyone to get back at me. He told me if I did end it with him, he'd leave the band and tell everyone I was a slut or something."

Evan ran his hands through his hair, clenching his jaw shut in time with the pounding of his hammering heart. "f*cking assh*le! Where is he? Damn it!" He calmed when he realized that's why she'd been so amazed at what he'd said to her last night. Avril really had never known true love before, or had someone to be there for her like he was, and Evan's heart slowly began breaking for her past. "That's why last night you broke down isn't it? It's because of the things Jesse's said and everyone else. That's why you were so upset about Jesse almost hitting you because you were scared something was gonna happen that night and that no one was going to be there to prevent it." Evan watched as Avril nodded. He pulled her into his arms as her fragile body was wracked with sobs.

At the worst possible moment for Evan's temper, Avril's cell phone rang again.

Fear flashed through Avril's clouded eyes, and Evan tore his pained ones away to grab the cell phone. "Hello?" Evan's voice rumbled.

Avril could hear Jesse as she stayed beside Evan.

"What the hell are you doing answering Av's cell phone? Let me talk to her!"

"No," Evan said firmly, "I want to know where you get off thinking you can treat Avril like that?"

"What the f*ck are you talking about Evan? What did that b*tch tell you now huh?" Jesse spat.

Evan saw the tears springing to Avril's eyes, running fresh trails down her pale cheeks. "Damn you Jesse! You've got no right to call her that!"

"And what, I suppose since you're with her now, you do?" Jesse said lazily.

"No one has the right to - why am I even arguing with you? Are you too blind to see how amazing she is?" Evan asked him, and then added before he could retort, "Obviously you are considering what you've done to her!"

"Well since you're such a great person, why weren't you there Ev? How do you think it felt for me knowing that all the time I was with her, she wanted you?"

"Bull shit Jesse, you know damn well as soon as you and her started dating we hardly spoke to each other! Don't try to even put this on either of us, she respected your relationship, and so did I. As far as I'm concerned, you're the one who ruined it - threatening her and treating her like shit!" Evan spoke with rage, watching as Avril sat down on the bed holding her head in her hands. He felt like her understood her so much better, why it had been so difficult for him and her to be together.

"Then why don't you treat her with respect huh? Give her everything she needs Evan, try to be better than I was!" Jesse growled.

"Oh, I can sure as hell do that, but there's no way I can give her everything she needs, no matter what I give her, it won't be enough compared to what she deserves." Evan said, speaking lightly as Avril began to cry harder.

Jesse sighed. "Evan, you're f*cking whipped you know that?"

He heard Mark laughing in the background and he smirked. "I'd rather be whipped and be with Avril than be whipped and be with your stupid chauvenistic friends who you're trying to show out for right now." A click sound in his ear, letting him know he'd won the argument. "Av, are you okay?"

She nodded her head, looking up at him. Her normally tranquil eyes were bloodshot and swollen. "I'm fine, I'm just so lucky to have you."

"I still don't understand why you're crying, are you upset about Jess?" Evan kneeled in front of her, holding her hand.

"No - it's a happy cry again, for all the things you just said about me and stood up for me. I know I'm being really emotional, but this is the first time I've ever felt safe." She replied, intertwining their fingers together.

Evan nodded his head. "Me too."

The reply made her feel better. She knew Evan hadn't had a perfect life either, and that's why she felt they were so good together, knowing they could take on anything as long as they had each other.

"I've written some stuff lately, about us - the whole ordeal - I haven't shown you yet." Avril said, her eyes regaining their glow.

"And you didn't show me?" Evan put on a faux shocked impression.

Avril giggled, loving how he could make her feel better in an instant. "Can you hand me my notebook?" He leaned back to get the worn and faded notebook from the floor. "And my guitar?"

"I guess I'm your slave again?" He replied, handing her the acoustic and notebook.

"I'm not gonna do it all, just the chorus. I don't want to wake the whole hotel like I'm sure we've done this past few nights." She gave him a coy smile.

He watched transfixed as she began playing a few power chords and then began to sing softly, her voice coursing into him.

He wasn't what I wanted what I thought, no

He isn't really what I'm looking for

Evan smiled. "Av, that was incredible."

"You always say that." But deep down she knew Evan wouldn't lie to her as a best friend, lover, or fellow musician.

"I know, but there's no other words to describe it," Evan admitted as his vocabulary escaped him, "I don't think well when I hear you sing."

She laughed. "Why is that?"

"I tend to lose myself in you, you know that." Evan cocked his head at her.

"I know." Avril replied innocently.

He chuckled. "It's nearly seven," Evan realized they'd been up for nearly three hours, "I better get a quick shower."

Avril looked as he stood up, stretching his tired muscles. "Care if I join?"

Evan smirked, and ducked down, picking her up over his shoulder. "You've got no choice."

Sorry it's so short, I couldn't do anything else with it, and all my ideas I want for the next chapter. Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter - now here's the big question, will Jesse show up or won't he? Wouldn't it be just like Jesse to show up to cause more drama! Ok, major plot hint there - but for all those who want to envision Evan beating the shit out of Jesse for us...just think about it....Thanks again for all the good things said about the story, they keep me inspired and assure me that I'm doing good cuz I used to think I couldn't write for anything, but I don't think that so much anymore....

Chapter Ten: Restraining Order

"Wait he called you?" Matt's amused smile faded as Avril and Evan began to explain the commotion that had occurred last night.

"Yeah...I think he was drunk. Evan gave it to him, though." Avril replied nonchalantly.

"He threatened to show up here again, can you believe him?" Evan muttered disgustedly.

"Av, seriously, two words - RESTAINING ORDER!" Charlie announced.

Avril shook her head. "No, I don't want it to come to that unless it absolutely has to."

"I know what you mean. Do you know how much shit that would cause?" Matt looked at Charlie who shrugged.

"All I can say is, he knows what will happen if he comes around her." Evan nodded toward Avril.

She shifted in her seat in Matt's hotel room. "Do you guys really think he'll show up again?"

"He did the first time we told him to get away." Charlie stated.

"That's true." Matt agreed.

"But even after L.A. told him not to, and that his reputation would be destroyed?" Avril chewed on her lip.

Evan put his arm around her shoulders. "Let's not worry about this okay? Why don't you show the guys what you showed me this morning?"

"Let me go get my notebook and guitar from your room." Avril stood up quickly.

"No, I'll go get it. I want you to tell them how you think it sucks so we can gang up on you as usual." Evan winked.

"Will do." Avril responded as Evan left the room.

~ * * ~

Evan inserted his card into the hotel room, but paused when he felt like someone was watching him. He hated the feeling, and got it often considering practically everyone knew who he was anymore. Casting his eyes around the vacant hallway, he pushed the door to his room open swiftly, but was pulled back out before he could shut the door.

Raising his head from the ground, he found himself staring at a worn out pair of Chuck Taylor's and mismatched socks. "f*ck, what are you doing here?"

"I came to get Avril." Jesse replied simply. "Now, is she in your room?"

"Like I would tell you." Evan muttered standing up fully and ducking the swing Jesse took. "Look, this is just getting stupid. Get out of here before Av sees you, you've upset her enough."

"Oh sweet, considerate Evan. Always watching out for Avril." Jesse hissed. "Hell of a job isn't it?"

"It's not a job." Evan retorted, taking Jesse by surprise as he shoved him into the door. "It just shows that I love her, it's called taking care of her."

Jesse pushed forward before Evan could react, and both guitarists fell to the ground. "Just let her go Ev, she loves me!"

Evan growled, jerking his head to the side as Jesse's fist went through the air, hitting the wall behind him. "No she doesn't!"

At that point, Matt's door swung open, stopping against the flailing forms of Evan Jesse.

"Oh f*ck." Matt grumbled, pushing the door open further and getting in the middle of the two.

"Get away Matt! I'm sick of this bastard trying to ruin everything!"

"Evan think about it, if anyone sees you two beating the hell out of each other, cops are gonna be called now please be quiet, or take it into your room!" Matt hissed loudly. Avril was in the bathroom and he didn't want her to hear the fight going on, which was why Charlie was guarding the bathroom door.

Evan and Jesse somehow made it from the floor to Evan's room. Evan shoved Jesse inside the room, just as Avril came out of the bathroom.

"Where's Ev?" She asked.

"Uh...he got a call on his cell phone." Charlie answered quickly.

"Why don't I believe you?" Avril looked to where Matt was blocking the doorway to his room, and walked toward him when she heard Evan's door slam. "Matt, move."

"Av - " Matt started, but Avril was too quick and ducked under his outstretched arms and out into the hallway.

She pushed against Evan's door, trying to get it open, but it was to no avail, she needed the hotel card. "Evan what's going on?" She was answered by the door shuddering against its hinges as Evan was slammed into the door.

Evan recoiled from his brutal shove quite quickly, and shoulder rushed Jesse to the opposite wall. "Jesse I swear if we don't stop this someone's gonna call the cops and you're gonna be charged with harassment and and battery for that matter!"

"Evan let me in!" He heard Avril call frantically from behind the door.

"Yeah Evan why don't you let her in and see what happens?" Jesse snorted.

Evan knew he turned red with anger at that moment and he again rushed Jesse into the wall, his fists following each other and making impact on any part of Jesse he could reach one after the other. Jesse slipped from under Evan's punches and rushed for the door to the hotel room after kicking Evan down. He jumped the lead guitarists curled up body and pulled open the door meeting Avril's tear and fear stricken face.

"Hey Avril."

Avril backed away into Charlie who again pulled her away from Jesse who was currently in the process of being pummeled by Matt.

"Charlie, go get help!" Matt screamed as he grabbed Jesse's swinging fists to prevent them from hitting his own face.

"Sure thing Matt, come on Av." Charlie wrapped his arm around Avril's shoulders and dragged her with him toward the lobby to get security.

Evan came barreling out of his hotel room just as one of Jesse's fists his Matt in the jaw. Evan kicked the back of the attacker's knee, disabling him momentarily as Matt kneed him in the stomach to get him down for security. Evan pulled his arms behind his back, forcing him to the floor just as two security guards rushed up the stairs to take Jesse off Matt and Evan's hands.

Jesse tried to get out of Evan's vice grip when he saw the security gaurds heading up the stairs, but he felt Matt's hands push down with Evan's.

"Police are on the way, we can take it from here." A security guard announced once his radio had stopped crackling.

"We'll need for you to hang around and make a statement as to what all happened, though." The guard's partner added.

~ * * ~

Evan winced slightly as Avril applied alcohol to his split lip. "Ah...it stings."

Avril pulled the cloth away from his bruised face. As far as she was concerned, he was the best looking male alive, despite his lip was cracked and swelling, not to mention the dark bruise appearing on his cheek bone. There were a few other bruises scattered across his chest and abdomen, but they would fade soon enough. "I'd imagine so."

Evan shook his head. "Yeah, well it was worth it."

"You didn't - "

"I know you think I didn't have to, but I did because I love you and he was gonna come after you if I didn't. He said it himself." Evan replied.

"Well, he's in jail now, he can't come after any of us." Avril stated defiantly.

"That is true, which means I don't need to take anymore beatings for a while."

"And neither do I." Matt added as he held the ice pack to his jaw.

"Aww Matt I'm sorry!" Avril hugged him.

"Hey, it's no big deal."

"Hey, what about me?" Charlie interrupted.

"Thanks for dragging me downstairs and preventing me from getting in the middle of it!" Avril then latched her arms around Charlie.

"Okay, and I have yet to get a hug. All I've gotten is shit that stings." Evan crossed his arms over his chest and pouted.

Avril moved from Charlie to Evan, and lowered her lips so they were grazing Evan's ear. "You're repayment is for later."

A wide grin cut across Evan's face. "I'll wait then."

Matt and Charlie stepped back unison.

"Should we leave them alone?" Charlie asked.

"Duh you sick freak! What do you wanna do, watch?" Matt slapped him across the head.

"Okay, get out of my hotel room." Avril giggled, pushing her drummer and bassist, who were arguing, out of the door.

"Technically this is Ev's hotel room, so only he can kick us out." Charlie planted his feet so he could be pushed by the singer.

Evan looked over at Avril. "Do I get my repayment if they leave?" She nodded. "Out! I ban you from my room until further notice!"

"I can't believe you would kick us out for a girl." Charlie muttered.

"Dude, I would so kick you guys out for a girl." Matt chuckled.

"That wasn't the point!" Charlie replied, using Matt's own technique and wacking him upside the head.

There you go, Ev beat Jesse up as many wanted to see. I personally wanted to see it myself so I figured what the hell, I'll put in there. I don't really think this turned out good, but the next chapter's the last, so I'll make that one good as possible. I won't be able to get the next chapter posted until Thursday night because Friday-Sunday I have to go to "Music Midtown" which is a major event for anyone who lives in Georgia, specifically the Atlanta area, meaning I get to rock out all weekend lol. Then Monday morning I hafta be up really early cuz the gifted kids at my school all get to take a bit of a senior trip (hey - we're eighth grade, so seniors of the school) and I won't get back from Savannah and all kinds of other fun places until Wednesday night. While I'm gone I'll write for my next story, which I don't know how much I'll get done considering three of my best friends are rooming with me, which is going to be quite a bit darker than this one, but AWENJ nonetheless. I know the chapters have been short, and I'm sorry but the next story will have lengthy chapters I promise. Thanks for all the feedback!

Chapter Eleven: Give Them Something To See

"Are you excited?" Evan asked as he, Avril, Matt, Charlie, and their new rhythm guitarist Craig, lounged in a hotel room.

"Excited is an understatement. I mean, tomorrow it's getting released and I'm going crazy." Avril replied, referring to the fact that her sophmore C.D. "Under My Skin" was due in less than twenty-four hours.

"The fans have reacted Av, they'll love it. You've seen them at the malls." Evan assured her. The guitarist and Avril had been on a special mall tour, giving them plenty of time to enjoy their new relationship and spend time alone with each other during the grueling touring schedule.

"You always find a way to make me feel better." Avril murmured, resting her head against Evan.

"I know." Evan rested his chin on the top of Avril's head.

"Holy shit look at that crowd!" Craig's voice became apparent over the sound of Matt and Charlie arguing, causing Evan and Avril to rise from their seats.

The hotel room's overlook in New York was positioned over a large C.D. store, where a crowd was already gathered for the release at midnight.

"Amazing isn't it?" L.A. came into the room.

"Just a little." Charlie answered sarcastically.

"All those people are there for my C.D.?" Avril asked.

"Every single one of them." L.A. laughed.

"You're not nervous are you?" Matt cocked an eyebrow at the singer.

"Not one word from you." She pointed playfully and looked back where Evan had been standing, but he wasn't there. "Ev?" She turned and saw he was walking toward the balcony, causing the crowd gathered to erupt in screams. The yells got progressively louder as the rest of the band filed out.

Charlie nudged Avril. "You wanna make 'em go crazy?" When she nodded, he began to yell, "Did you think that I was gonna give up to you?!"

"This time! Did you think that it was something I was gonna do, and cry?! Don't try to tell me what to do, don't try to tell me what to say! You're better off that way!" The crowd finished and then yelled.

"You wanna see them get even more insane?" Avril challenged Charlie.

He folded his arms across his chest. "Go for it."

Avril walked next to Evan, and tugged on his arm. He turned to face her and she planted her hands on either side of his face, and pulled his lips down toward hers. Evan's arms encircled her waist as he deepened the kiss amongst the hollers from the crowd.

"AVRIL! EVAN! AVRIL! EVAN!" The crowd chanted.

The two pulled apart, and waved down to the shouting fans as they turned to go back into the hotel.

"Well, that'll be in the papers tomorrow." Craig remarked.

"Yeah, well we we're always in the papers so I figured we'd just give them something to see." Avril shrugged.

Seconds felt like minutes, minutes felt like hours, and days felt like weeks to Avril as time ticked by ever so slowly until midnight. She was growing restless as the anticipation of the release drew nearer, but continued to feel so far away. She knew she shouldn't have anything to worry about, her band - her brothers were there with her, including her lover. There were no worries about anybody crashing the celebration, for Jesse had spent a month in jail, and had a restraining order against him where he couldn't make contact with Avril for any reason at all. Life couldn't get get any better...

Or so she thought.

"I think the crowd's gotten bigger." Craig stated as he watched from behind the curtains.

"I can't imagine the hell those poor employees are gonna endure once those doors open." Charlie added.

"It's only 11:45?" Avril gasped as she saw the time on Evan's watch.

"Just don't think about it, it'll get here faster. It's like how a watched pot never boils."

"Matt, we're talking about the release of my second C.D. here, not a pot of Ramen Noodles." Avril retorted.

"He is right Av, just take your mind off of it." Evan advised.

"And how do you suggest I do that?" Avril asked, winking at him.

"Not in front of the kids." Evan replied.

"I'm putting them up for adoption anyway so what does it matter?" Avril joked.

"Hey, we resent that!" Charlie defended.

Soon it became two minutes until midnight, and Evan decided to make his move. "Hey Av, I need to talk to you about something."

Avril looked at him, puzzled. "Oh now you decide to take my mind off things when midnight's almost here eh?"

"No, this is serious." Evan clutched her tiny hand. "Just come with me."

Avril let him drag her into the bedroom of the hotel. "Now what's this about?"

"Well, your C.D. is being released and all, and it's like a new chapter in your career right?" Evan slid his arms around her waist so he was hugging her from behind.

"Right, but what's your point?" Avril didn't take her eyes off of his vivid ones.

"Well, why not start a chapter in your life - in our life?" Evan spoke, his warm breath meeting Avril's ear, sending shivers through her body as his hands slowly slid down her arms and toward her hands. It was when his skilled hands finally met hers that she felt the ring slipping onto her finger. "Marry me?" He whispered.

Her eyes stared down at the beautiful diamond that had been placed on her finger. Tears were springing to her eyes as she grasped for her voice. How ironic was it that she was a singer, and her voice escaped her now? Finally, her mouth expelled, "YES!" She turned her body so she was facing him and jumping into his arms, passion surging into them as they met in a kiss to seal the proposal. Evan stumbled back until he was against the wall, opposite where a door was opening.

"What the hell's going on in here? You guys quit messing around it's midnight!" Matt yelled seeing the couple kissing.

Avril jumped out of Evan's arms and ran up to Matt, jumping excitedly and pointing at the ring. "He - I'm - we're - us - "

Matt chuckled. "You're getting married? I know."

"What?" Avril's eyes grew wide as Charlie and Craig entered the room.

"Ev told us like a week ago." Charlie shrugged.

"We were there when he picked out the ring." Craig grinned.

"Well, I gotta tell somebody since you guys already know!" Avril then looked out to the balcony where there was still a crowd of fans who hadn't gone in to by the C.D. yet. She grabbed Evan, dragging him with her. "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!" She screamed.

There was silence from below as everyone turned to see the diamond glinting in the moonlight as Avril announced the engagement, then a loud roar erupted as the couple kissed again.

"I guess you really made them go crazy that time." Charlie said referring to his and Avril's challenge from earlier.

"I figured I'd go ahead and tell them now, really give them something to see." Avril shrugged and then grinned as Evan's lips were again meeting hers.

It's over! I just figured I'd end it before I leave for my trip and I'm putting off packing so you know. Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did writing it, thanks for all your feedback, it's keeping me motivated to start this next story that will be up by Thursday at the latest. Midtown was awesome, I've never seen so much moshing and crowd surfing in my life, or so much booing when Courtney Love took the stage. Yeah we pretty much screamed "f*ck you!" and then some girls were screaming "Cobain killer!" and everyone was telling her to go home. I don't know how it turned out because we left as she was finishing her first song but other than that it rocked! Well, I've gotta go pack and get up in like 5 hours but I'll be back Wednesday night! Now I've just gotta figure out how I'm gonna live without this site and you people for 3 days...

Awww thanks so much for all the wonderful feedback. I got a little bit of writing for my next story done while I was on the trip, but not as much as I hoped for because our schedule turned out to be more packed than they said it would be, but I'm home now and I can write more. Since the next story is going to have more lengthy chapters expect it up by tomorrow night!
