View Full Version : My Dad

My dad pulled some kind of disk in his neck a few months ago and when he took a trip to the doctor they told him that he had to get a very dangerous oporation to fix it and that there was no way he could go without it. He has been putting it off so he could do it over the summer so he could relax and not have to worry about work (he is a doctor himself, well a respitory theropist that is). But there is one thing that scares me a lot....
This guy that I went to high school with, his dad had to have the same EXACT surgery, and when he went in to have it, everything was going smooth, and then they hit a nerve in his spine. He was paralized for about 2 hours and then he died. The family didn't sue the doctors because they told him that there was a 50-50 chance of something bad happening. I'm not sure what hospital it was, I'm thinking it is the one in my hometown, but my dad is going to a different one. But on the lighter side, a woman at my church has had the same surg. twice without any complications. So yeah, I suppose you can guess I am a little scared of this. I just thought I would share that, I need a little comfort.

Stay positive.
There's risk with any surgery. Even the smallest operation, there's always something that can go wrong. Yeah with this one it's a lot higher but hey, you['ve heard of one that's gone wrong -- and two that went right. Keep that in mind.

the 1st thing is that your dad loves you you know that and im sure it will go like great your dad might get a pain in the neck here and thier cause after somethink like that but it wont be a very bad pain.
and they will only use dockers that have had years and years of hands on exspearience to do it and it dose help when the hole family is thinking about him and thinkg ya my dad will be great they have the best doctors working on it.
but if he dose die God forbid think of all the great times you had with him cause if you only think of the bad that will bring your down and he will alwasys live on in the hearts of all the people that loved him and still do
and i will be willing him on and i know it will go with out a hitch

I know that it is scaring to see someone get an operation, especially something like that, but I've been into operations quite a lot of times and never anything went wrong, sometimes things happen, but they are rare. stay postive, only if it were for your dad, I'm sure he will be fine after the operation

Dont worry. He needs this oporation so that his head dont fall off. Everything will be ok.... Even if his head does fall off. He'll have a neck and body! ^_^

Ha, that honestly did make me laugh as serious as the situation is. Hee hee thanks!
I know not everyone agrees with me but the thing that keeps me going is my faith in the fact that God will be watching over him...I know he will.

Thanks Emerson, I appreciate that.
Hmmm....I didn't really seem to find that funny.
But then again, knowing who said it....calms me a little.
Need I say more?

You have to be humored by Taylor to find that remark funny.

It was a crack against Emerson, not your dad. I meant no insensitivity towards him. I'd say something witty here, too... But I'm trying not to offend you.

I dont want to offend you either, punkin_monkey. It must be pretty upsetting for you at the moment and your probably feeling really sensitive. I hope his head will be ok. Try not to worry and im sure it will stay on.
