Forgotten?

Has Avril forgotten about the guys in her band? Have you noticed that on the CD leaflet, the band don't actually play instruments for the songs. Ok, i think Evan and Matt play a couple - but that's it.
The guys have almost nothing to do with what Avril does. They don't appear very often in her videos and they don't have interviews as a whole 'band'. It's just Avril or Avril and Evan.

I think this is kind of sad, i mean i bet the guys work so hard when they are on tour and they don't get half the recognition that Avril gets. I feel sorry for them.

I got the feeling some time ago that the label and everyone else around Avril only want us to focus on Avril.

Maybe they want to show that Avril can do everything by herself and don't need much help but of course she needs a touring band.

Another reason for this could be that if someone leaves the band they don't want any attention about it.

We all know Evan will probably leave after next year's tour and if he can leave without the media writing about it they maybe think that if the band has a low profile now it would be easier for everyone and they don't want people to speculate on why he left.
We all now what happened when Ben left Evanescence even if that is not the same as this situation.

Yeah, I've thought about that too. I think it's really sad, I looked at the credits the other day and Evan was like on 2, and that's it. A year ago, maybe longer than that didn't we all assume since she has a band they were going to play on the next album? :(

I can understand that the band didn't work on the album.
Avril is a solo artist, if the band worked on the album it wouldn't have looked like she had done her own thing and Avril pointed out last year that she wanted to show exactly that.

I think it is sad that the band don't get any recognision but backing bands often don't get any attention and sadly we have to deal with it.

Avril is signed as a solo artist. That means that Evan Craig, Charlie and Mat can be replaced any second. They were simply hired by the label to play for Avril.

It's like all the other solo artists, like Dave Mathews, or Fefe Dobson. Their band just plays, and I think it's great now that Av's band gets the attention it does. At least it gets more than other solo artist's backing bands.

i really don't think avril is forgetting about her band, she still thanks them and everything all the time, and always talks about how their some of her best friends. ..i think the main reason the band isnt in don't tell me is because jesse was leaving, and they hadnt got it together with craig yet. and also it being a "girl power" video, it wouldnt really have the same message comming from it if it was showing band GUYS popping up everywhere lol. ..i think the guys will be in MHE video though..hopefully. :)

I think he will. Everyone gets sick of being overshadowed, and Avril overshadows everyone in her band because like people have said she's a solo artist. I think Evan will go off and do his own thing eventually.

^ Exactly. She's said in some interviews how she tries to get her band involved in everything, but you don't see them in photoshoots, recording on the album, and they only in appear in a few interviews.

Evan for another year and a half? YAY!!!!!! He probably will leave eventually. She's a solo artist, yeah, but she's put a lot of emphasis on them in her own personal speech, etc. but not anymore it seems like, and that's why we are saying they're being overshadowed. Because once they were included...sort of. I'm rambling now and probably know one will read this..eh, oh well.

And you know when Av was still on the "I'll be what I want" thing and was outspoken when she first came out, she'd always say that Evan was her best friend and stuff, right? Well...read the thank you's on UMS.

Before we always heard Evan was her BEST friend now it is like he is her friend.

Even will eventually leave and the timing would be great for him if he left after the big world tour. How long do you think he is willing do this instead of concentrating on his own career? Not long I think. He's not stupid.

I just thought that if it takes as long to make Avril's third album as it did to make her second one that means it will come out in two years. Then there will be at least a year maybe year and a half of promotion and touring.

Evan won't stay in her band until 2007 and I think he would rather quit the band before the promtion and tour start for the third album and since he will not work on the third album (probably not work on it anyway) why not quit straght after the world tour next year to concentrate on himself.

I think this new thing with less emphasis on the band is just part of Avril's changing image. With the first album, the label really pushed the image of her as a skater girl tomboy who hangs out with all the skater boys. So Evan, Matt, Mark, and eventually Jesse (and Charlie when Mark left, but he's less 'skater boy' than the others) were hired not so much for their musicianship, but more for their image.

But now that Avril is 'growing up' and is supposed to be this mature, singer-songwriter girl, her image is being set as a solo artist, and more of a young woman than as a cute little girl who's just one of the guys. So the band is less important to the marketing image and is therefore in the spotlight even less.

Plus, as some people have said, it does cut down on gossip if nobody cares. I mean, Nelly Furtado had a baby with someone in her backup band -- but nobody really cared, or knew they were together. But when the Avril and Jesse rumours were kicking around, everyone was all "Are they? Are they?" and it was hot gossip... which was fine with her old image but now I think the label wants people to focus on her songs and her lyrics more than her. Maybe she wants that too.

i think that everyone of her band mates should take part in all avrils interviews, i mean her singing isnt singing without the band? they deserve some apearences in magazines also...i mena evan helped 2 right UMS he should have his face on cover of rolling stones

and to the post above me: Avril is a solo artist. She is not the lead singer of a band. The band was hired to back her up, to stay in the background. That's why they don't do interviews. Also, if Evan should be "on the cover of rolling stone" with Avril, then so should Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maide, and the Matrix should have the first time she was on... because they helped write her songs too.
