Closet Monster Comes Clean On Avril Lavigne

In this week's Loud Tested video by Closet Monster, you might recognize the blonde dreadlocked bass player. That's London Spicoluck. He recently left playing bass for pop-rock superstar Avril Lavigne, to focus full time on his band and independent label Underground Operations. In an interview with MuchMusic he revealed why he left. "As soon as I joined in, it turned into this weird band persona - Avril and "her boys" and all that," London explained. "When I got the call, it was just to play bass." He said he and the other guys realized that they weren't just the band, but also a "huge part of this giant marketing tool." London just wanted to play his instrument. "I don't really want to be in the spotlight with this kind of thing. I gotta get outta here. It's not where my heart is."

Drummer Charles Moniz of the Toronto based band Grade replaced London and now plays bass in Avril Lavigne's band.

dreads on white ppl rarely looks good, but when u have blonde hair for feck sake, that was atrocious, good riddance

I believe him when he said he was used as a marketing tool, I've taken a few marketing classes not to mention Sports and Entertainment Marketing. What he says is true, they didn't only chose him because he rocked at playing the bass but because of his unique look and style and shit, thats what people wanna see. But now that he quit your all just dissing him because he's following his heart? Thats pretty ignorant.

I read the history of Closet Monster. London i think joined the band and after a while, kicked the leader out (i dont know why, but that sounds kinda mean from the details i read) and became leader. He then wanted all their names to be Mark or something that sounds like Mark (dont ask why). CRAZY! Just search Closet Monster on google. I think it was on an angelfire website i dunno.

no way, no sober parents are gonna name their child London. he obviously wanted to call the rest of the band members mark coz he's an egomaniac, and that's why he quit, bcoz he was jus being labeled as Avrils band, and he wants the limelight, fair enough but u can't try and say its something when its not.

Ok, if his actual name WAS London, don't you think he would be known as London "Mark" Spicoluk? However, he's known as Mark "London" Spicoluk. You put nicknames in quotations, not ACTUAL names....

if you go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/losing_grip (u'll haev to sign up) and go to post # 1113 theres a message from MARK which he emailed me .. it explains why he left . He asked me to put it up for fans to read so go check it out!
