I personally find the photographs ugly, from an aesthetical viewpoint. Avril's hair looks like two-coloured straw, her breasts look flat, and she overall seems to be a waxwork doll. I don't even find her especially pretty. It's too perfect, too clean, too shiny, and too cheap, in a way.

To say the truth, they're far from being the worst pictures I've seen of her, but they're bad anyway. And it has nothing to do with the clothes she wears. I bet she could be completely topless and still look more dignified than she does here, in Maxim.
