Well this was a rough week on all of us.. but it should be better now.
I've upgraded the vBulletin software to the latest version 3.0.6 I know I've upgraded it often lately, but Jelsoft has been releasing these like crazy. I think it's a good thing since we always get a more secure version of the software, with a few extra bug fixes on the side.
ALSO, because of the rough week we had with our server, our server company was kind enough to move the entire site to a newer server. Hopefully this will fix all the problems we've been having lately.
This was all done this morning, so if you see things missing, please let me know. Also if you have an troubles with the performance of the server, or if it goes faster now for you, I'd like to know and get your feedback.
Thanks!
Drew

Great I'm glad it's better for you now. The forbidden message was probably during the move.
Thanks for your post, it really should be better now considering the server load is under 1 and it used to be over 20 on a regular basis on t he old server. I just can't see the speed upgrade yet cause my own internet connection is giving me troubles right now.. all the sites I visit are slow.. but as long as its fast for you guys, that's all that really matters!

^ Weren't you one of the people who posted about the site being 'suspended' or the big crash during this week :p Those were all problems due to the old server.
Things should get even better once the server host upgrades the PHP to fix a performance bug with 4.3.10.. but we'll have to wait til www.php.net (http://www.php.net) releases the new version

Drew you're starting to confuse me... you've changed servers atleast 80 times since mid 2004 and have upgraded php and the forums millions :p

We changed servers companies once, and that was right after christmas.
This morning our server company helped this site by putting it on a server that should be better than the first one we were on.
I'm not responsible of the php upgrades. PHP is a program that is needed to 'run' dynamic websites like avrilstar. But this is something that gets upgraded on the server side, and I have no control over it.
The vbulletin software upgrades I am responsible for. vBulletin is a great company that cares about the security of its users, so they release patches and bug fixes to keep it as secure as possible. This particular upgrade was to cover a security flaw in the bbcodes. Any site out there that runs vBulletin with a version of less than 3.0.6 is vulnerable to outside attacks, so that's why I think its important to upgrade as often as possible, so AvrilStar doesn't get hacked :)

Indeed, but don't rely on the software too much, you need to make your weekly/monthly back ups to now you hear???
