The dog was put down the other night. Toby his name was. My grandparents dog. He had a tuma in his balls, I'm not sure which one. So he'd been walking around the place with this large lump dangling beneath him, for months, poor thing. My mother came into the kitchen and she sort of blurted it out, "They're having Toby put down, he's sick" I almost shed a tear, infact I think I started filling up at one point, but I didn't cry, I couldn't cry. I stood by the kitchen door that leads into the garden, stared at whatever was in my eyeview at them time, and left. Usually I'd cry at these sort of things, but this time it was different. I guess as you get older you either start caring a whole lot more for things, or you just get colder. I hope he's up there boning some bitch, the poor thing never got any female action down here, seeing as my grandparents never brought home a bitch for him to enjoy after thier shopping trips on the weekend.
Thanks for sharing in my pain. As you can see to deal with my losses I try to put a light hearted spin on things. Saves headaches from the waterworks.
We used to play ball together. I'd throw it up and down the garden and enjoy watching him run back and forth after it. Sometimes he even caught it in his mouth when I threw it into the air. It was so much fun, well, before he started biting me and growling. Maybe he got grumpy as he aged. Cool dog, though.

i watched a dog vomit and spasm to death once, she must have gotten into something poisonous. it was pretty fucked up.

Well I just randomly woke up in the middle of the night because I felt like finding this thread. Thank you, Toby.

I'm sorry about your dog. I know how you feel, my grandma's dog has died recently of old age. We basically grew up together, I was so sad.

This was quite a while ago, but thanks for your kind words. Sorry to hear about your grandma's dog though. My dogs are getting old but thier still ticking. It'll be devastating to lose them, especially due to an illness which means we'll have no choice but to put them down, which was the case with both my grandparents dogs. I don't even want to think about that though, so I won't.

I don't know what I was thinking, but I was only half-awake when I wrote it. I guess, for him being such an amazing pet that it made you share about the best experience he had with you when starting this thread.

I don't remember ever seeing this thread.
But yeah, I guess I can imagine how you were feeling around the time. When my grandmother died, my grandad was left with her cat, he doesn't know how to look after animals, so I was looking after the cat most of the time. This incredibly small cat suddenly grew huge paws, so I took her to the vets and they thought she had a tumor, but they couldn't find it, so I had to spend alot of time looking after her. She was put on medication. If it did turn out she had a tumor, they would put her down, and just the thought of it got me upset, so I cried anyway. This went on for about two months and then eventually the cat crawled away somewhere to die. Funnily enough I spent all that time crying and when she eventually died, I stopped. I was kinda relieved.
She was an old cat though, she'd been in our family longer than I have.
She was 21, and I heard that most cats only live up to 15.
Meow.
It is very sad to loose a pet.

Indeed, that's why I'll never have one. Sorry about your grandmother's cat, actually my most-favorite uncle's dog run away as well. I dunno, I guess it's better for both the pet and it's owner, but I wouldn't know.

Yes, but they still live a long life. Unlike hamsters, and fish.

Eww, fish. I wouldn't consider that as a pet honestly. Cold-blooded something that can swim.

I didn't know, but apparently that's what old cats do before they die.
I've never had any old cats, they've all been run over *sniggers*
but no, it's not funny really. I was cut up about that too.
But I do agree, I think it's better that way.
And I hate fish. They make crap pets, and so do hamsters.
They just poop and sleep. Fish just... die.
Cat's are independent and in my opinion, the cleanest pets.

Your poor kitties!! That's another reason I won't ever have a pet, I have a fear or unexpected accidents. Last thing I want is to see a hamster or a Guinea Pig in a washing machine

Yep, clean and independent.... and cute! Plus you can't talk to your pet fish.
That's just... weird.

No it isn't :D :p
I talk to my kittie all the time. I'd like to think she understands me. Infact, I think they do. And if they had the ability to speak, in english we'd have some full blown conversations.
Cats and dogs make good company.

I talk to my dogs too! I'm pretty sure they understand what I'm saying, and if not , then they pretend to listen better than any human ever could. Anyway, sorry to hear about your cat's Heather.
Eh, I miss Toby & Pongo. The coolest dogs ever; aside from Benjy, Mickey & Waddles.
